Comic books have given us the most bizarre, wonderful characters we have ever seen. The idea of superpowered individuals has baffled us; at some point, we all wished we had superhuman abilities. The thing is, there are so many kinds of abilities that it would be hard to choose.
Worry not. We have put together a list of the best superpowers one could have.
Let’s take a look, shall we?

#25 Body Multiplication
Defense Meter: 74/100
Offense Meter: 66/100
The ability to duplicate one’s own body is handy. This power would be best to confuse your enemy in a fight. Your duplicates can buy you more time to think up a new tactic or even let you escape to fight another day. While it is not the best ability to have in an offensive sense, it could still come to use. The duplicates could distract your enemy while you perform a sneak attack.
We see two characters use this in the MCU to good effect. Loki uses this ability constantly when battling Thor. He tricks Thor on many occasions and then sneaks up behind and attacks him.
This ability would be a very useful one in real life as well. You could be in two places at once.
Superheroes:
- Loki
- Legion
- Stephen Strange

#24 Hacking
Defense Meter: 75/100
Offense Meter: 68/100
We are surrounded by technology everywhere, and a vast amount of information is attached to it. Sure, we can use our computer to get what we want, but the ability to communicate with the computer would give you access on a different level. Not many superheroes have this ability, save one.
Cyborg is a core member of the JLA, and one of his most crucial traits is his ability to communicate with computers. This gives him access to any information he wants and can soar the web seamlessly. We see him use this ability during the Flashpoint Paradox movie to gather information on his opponents and prep for the upcoming battle.
In a world where information is power, this ability would be beneficial.

- Cyborg
- Lex Luthor

#23 Super Senses
Defense Meter: 75/100
Offense Meter: 69/100
Heightened sense allows heroes to identify oncoming threats before they even happen. Our Friendly Neighborhood hero has a version of this that warns him of any coming dangers and enables him to make adjustments.
The best offensive use of this power is by Daredevil. The blind hero has hearing abilities that far exceed anyone and actively uses it to fight crime. With his abilities, he can hear well enough to predict where the next punch will come from and where precisely to land his next blow.
Oh, and you can probably eavesdrop on enemies as well.
Superheroes:
- Daredevil
- Spider-Man
- Superman
#22 Elemental Mimicry
Defense Meter: 74/100
Offense Meter: 70/100
The ability to mimic an element can be quite valuable. If you can mimic the nature of a rock, then your skin would become hard as well, and each element would have its respective abilities.
Ice-man can use this to great effect by turning it into an all-ice form. This makes his skin tougher and provides a certain level of protection from imminent harm.
This would be beneficial in battle, and if the user is someone like Darwin (X-Mean: First Class), then he can pick an element that would be best suited for the fight.
Superheroes:
- Iceman
- Darwin
#21 Healing
Defense Meter: 75/10
Offense Meter: 70/100
Having medical aid on the battlefield is crucial, and that’s where this would be beneficial.
While there aren’t many offensive uses for this power, It would be the most valuable defensive power on the battlefield.
Many, including Bruce Banner, have sometimes viewed the Hulk as a disease he can’t get rid of. In Tales to Astonish #93, the Silver Surfer suggests that he can cure Bruce Banner of his alter-ego.
Iron fist has been shown to heal people with his Chi as well.
You’d save a lot on hospital bills.
Superheroes:
- Silver Surfer
- Iron Fist
- Scarlett Witch

#20 Good Luck
Defense Meter: 74/100
Offense Meter: 74/100
Some people are lucky, and others just have everything go their way. And that would be a remarkable superpower to have.
The mutant Domino is one such individual with this power. We see it in action during the Deadpool movie, which is cool. No matter what happens, things end up going well for her.
We wouldn’t have to keep wishing for good things to happen; they just would.
Superheroes:
- Domino
- Black Cat
#19 Phasing
Defense Meter: 75/100
Offense Meter: 72/100
Phasing is the ability to move between solid objects, as in, move through them.
In the X-Men Final Stand movie, Kitty Pryde uses her powers to fight Juggernaut. While she seems to be running most of the time, she walks away from that conflict without a scratch, even trapping Juggernaut at one point.
Vision uses this ability against Hawkeye, and we can see that the archer cannot hit the android with a single arrow. They all just pass right through Vision.
Superheroes:
- Kitty Pryde
- Vision
- Flash
- Martian Manhunter

#18 Invisibility
Defense Meter: 77/100
Offense Meter: 74/100
This superpower would be convenient whether to sneak out of school, hide from an angry mom, or hide your socially awkward self from a crowd.
Mrs. Fantastic is the most famous user of this power. She can make herself invisible and hide from the enemy. Sue Storm has been able to land many blows on Dr. Doom without being seen. The Miles Morales Spider can use this power effectively against his enemies too.
Invisibility would be incredibly beneficial in stealth missions.
Superheroes:
- Mrs. Fantastic
- Vision
- Miles Morales-Spiderman
#17 Laser Vision
Defense Meter: 73/100
Offense Meter: 77/100
Laser vision is a fan favorite, and it just looks plain cool.
Superman is probably the most famous hero to use this power and has done so very effectively. He can control the intensity of his heat vision to adjust to his needs, which makes it even more useful.
Another superhero to use this power is Cyclops. Though he does not have the same control over it as Superman, the sheer force of the blast can bring down buildings. The eyes become a weapon he can unsheathe by just opening them, and chances are that you will have good aim because it comes from your eyes.
Talk about a death stare.
Superheroes:
- Cyclops
- Superman
- Darkseid
#16 Flight
Defense Meter: 76/100
Offense Meter: 79/100
Flight is one of the more common superpowers out there.
This ability is great to have offensively and defensively too. The aerial advantage would allow you to keep your distance from the enemy and make it easier to dodge their attacks. More importantly, on-ground targets are easier to hit when in the air.
This ability is best used by the Man of Steel in the 1978 Superman movie. He uses flight (and speed) to turn back time just a little, so he can save Lois.
The power of flight would be a practical one to have. No more traffic.
Superheroes:
- Superman
- Wonder Woman
- Thor
#15 Teleportation
Defense Meter: 78/100
Offense Meter: 75/100
Often when you’re running late for work, you find yourself wishing you could get there instantly. Imagine having the power to do that.
The most famous hero to use this is the mutant Nightcrawler. In the opening scene of X-men 2, we see the mutant attack the White House under mind control. He zips past the security and massacres them before they can react. He does so by teleporting so fast that they don’t know where he will appear next.
Think of all the time and money you would save on plane tickets.
Superheroes:
- Nightcrawler
- Cable
- Supergirl
- Miss America
#14 Impenetrable Skin
Defense Meter: 79/100
Offense Meter: 76/100
Most heroes who have this power usually also have super strength. However, this power is useful on its own. Granted, this raises medical concerns, but if there isn’t much that can hurt this super skin, the chances of running to the hospital are much less.
Take Luke Cage, for example. In the TV show, we see his skin is unscathed by massive explosions, and he takes on machine guns at point-blank range without flinching. Even a bazooka proves useless against him.
This power alone would allow one to walk straight into the line of fire and come out unharmed.
Superheroes:
- Superman
- Luke Cage
- Hulk
- Colossus
#13 Shape Shifting
Defense Meter: 79/100
Offense Meter: 77/100
The ability to change your appearance at will is a scary one indeed. You would be able to impersonate anyone and get to wherever you need to.
If you want to hide from an opponent in plain sight, just walk into a crowd and mimic someone else. You could infiltrate enemy territories and create havoc from within. The possibilities are endless.
The mutant, Mystique, uses this power to infiltrate the enemy turf and does what she does best. In fact, during the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” this power is the most sought after, as it would enable the sentinels to shape-shift.
Superheroes:
- Mystique
- Martian Manhunter
- Loki
#12 Size Manipulation
Defense Meter: 79/100
Offense Meter: 79/100
If you can increase and decrease your size, then you shrink from being virtually invisible to your enemy or enlarge to increase your strength.
Ant-Man has been able to use this power very effectively. The ability to shrink allowed him to get into places no one else could and even led him to discover a new universe. During the events of the Civil War, Ant-Man becomes as big as a building.
This power would enable you to weasel your way anywhere, and it would be like fighting an invisible opponent.
Superheroes:
- Ant-Man
- Mr. Fantastic
- Plastic Man
- Martian Manhunter
- The Atom
#11 Regeneration
Defense Meter: 80/100
Offense Meter: 77/100
Many heroes can fight, take damage, heal themselves and then keep going. It’s almost as if they are unstoppable.
Wolverine’s regeneration is probably the best out there, and it’s borderline scary. Across all the X-Men movies, we see him get shot at, burned, and stabbed. Slashed and even blown up, He walks away without a scratch each time.
The same with Deadpool. Limbs that are cut off, grow back in hours. How insane would that be in real life?
Most people run away from fights because they’re afraid to get hurt. Well, what if that becomes impossible?
Superheroes:
- Wolverine
- Deadpool
- Hulk
#10 Being Rich
Defense Meter: 79/100
Offense Meter: 79/100
We love our powerless, wealthy heroes. They can be annoying sometimes, but they always have the coolest stuff.
This is part of the list mainly because money’s resources have proven to be enough to beat some of the most powerful beings in the universe. We have seen Iron Man go toe to toe with the Mad Titan, Batman takes on Superman, and Black Panther zip on his nano suit instantly. The only way they could do this was through money.
Money eventually lets a human-like Stark wield a gauntlet with powers that could make or break the universe.
Hopefully, Elon Musk will start taking a few notes from these heroes.

- Black Panther
- Iron Man
- Batman
- Green Arrow

#9 Telepathy
Defense Meter: 81/100
Offense Meter: 78/100
Don’t lie, we’ve all tried doing this at some point. We have all tried to talk to someone else through our minds.
This power would let you enter another person’s mind and potentially even control them. There have been many powerful users of this, but none better than Professor X. He can infiltrate minds and control them. He is classified as an Omega Level Mutant.
He could find out anything about a person’s history, what they dreamed of, and what troubles them, and then use it against them. It could wage mental warfare of a different kind.
Superheroes:
- Professor X
- Jean Grey
- Cable
- Martian Manhunter
- Specter
#8 Density Manipulation
Defense Meter: 83/100
Offense Meter: 80/100
In theory, this would allow one to increase the density of themselves or objects.
This is a power we used a lot by Vision. Via this ability, he can become weightless, invisible, incredibly durable, or hard. We see the android this is power during the events of the Civil War, where he hardens himself to hit Ant-Man, who is the size of a building at the time.
Possessing this power means you can fly, become rock hard and turn invisible to the eye.
Very beneficial eh…?
Superheroes:
- Vision
- Martian Manhunter

#7 Mystical Arts
Defense Meter: 82/100
Offense Meter: 81/100
Who doesn’t love magic? From what we can tell from comics and movies, spells have the power to give you whatever you want. There is a spell for everything. Regardless if you are just trying to defend yourself or attack someone.
The recent Multiverse of Madness movie uses magic to take us to different universes and shows that almost nothing is impossible as long as you can think it up. Dr. Strange fights mystical creatures with his enchantments and can morph reality with the flick of a hand. The reason that the Avengers were eventually able to bet Thanos was because of magic.
What is the first spell you would use if you suddenly found out you could do magic?
Superheroes:
- Dr. Strange
- Constantine
- Scarlett Witch
- Mordo
- Zatana
#6 Super Intelligence
Defense Meter: 82/100
Offense Meter: 82/100
Our best heroes have failed time and time again simply because it took time for them to see the solutions to those problems. Superintelligence would be a deadly weapon here.
The character who embodies this ability is Brainiac. Granted, Brainiac was an evil alien that used his intelligence for his agenda but still managed to bring the best heroes to their knees. His intellect exceeded anything thing else. It was like he was a walking super-computer.
If you have a mind that can think beyond anyone else’s comprehension, you’ll probably have the solution before the concern even arises.
Superheroes:
- Brainiac
- Mr. Fantastic
- Cyborg
- Batman/Bruce Wayne
- Iron Man/Tony Stark
#5 Time Control
Defense Meter: 85/100
Offense Meter: 82/100
Time travel is a possibility in theory. The ability to control or travel through time would be a game changer in battle, and we have seen it used by our heroes repeatedly.
The most famous use of this ability comes from the Sorcerer Supreme when he takes on Dormammu with this ability and manages to trap the entity in a time loop. This forces Dormammu to beg to be freed.
Not all applications of this power have had a positive effect. Flashpoint is a glaring example.
However, if used carefully, we would be able to go back in time to save people or simply for investigative purposes. The applications are unending.
Superheroes:
- Doctor Strange
- Specter
- The Flash
- Cable
- Dr. Manhattan

#4 Elemental Control
Defense Meter: 85/100
Offense Meter: 85/100
Power over the elements is insanely cool; if comics are any indication, it could be among the most powerful abilities. Hypothetically, if you could control lightning, you could power the whole world on clean energy.
The mutant, Storm, is an exceptional wielder of this power and can control the weather. As the name suggests, she can call down a storm, create a smokescreen for her teammates to hide, and even strike people with electricity. Another user is Human Torch, whose fire powers can make him as hot as the sun.
If you control one element, which one would you choose?
Superheroes:
- Storm
- Iceman
- Human Torch
- Groot
- Firestorm
#3 Super Speed
Defense Meter: 90/100
Offense Meter: 85/100
The power of Super speed is so high up this list because it is the most useful power to have. You can get anywhere you want in a short amount of time; you never have to be late or even just use it to generate incredible punching power. How does your opponent hit you if you’re too fast to see? Or even dodge a blow they can’t see coming?
No one does it better than the Flash. The Fastest Man Alive has had some very creative uses of his speed over the years. He could change the course of time many times, thereby changing histories or futures. In a fight against Luthor Brainiac (Justice League: Unlimited), he uses his speed to generate power for his punches, and it almost looks like Luthor is being hit by lightning.
The ability to run at the speed of light would be very convenient.
Superheroes:
- The Flash
- Makari
- Quicksilver
- Reverse Flash
- Godspeed

#2 Telekinesis
Defense Meter: 80/100
Offense Meter: 90/100
We’ve all tried lifting rocks with our minds. These Eleven-like powers would be a treat to have. You would never lift a finger to do anything anymore.
The scariest depiction of this power is by Jean Grey in X-Men: The Last Stand. She is shown throwing trucks at people and sometimes people at trucks. There appears to be no limit to her powers, as she can control anything with her mind. It allows her to rip people in two, carry incredibly heavy things, and make it incredibly hard to get close to her as she can just throw her enemies away.
You would be able to take the weapons out of your enemy’s hand before they can even think about it.
Superheroes:
- Jean Grey
- Scarlett Witch
- Martian Manhunter
- Cable
- Dr. Fate
#1 Super Strength
Defense Meter: 87/100
Offense Meter: 95/100
Super Strength is probably the most common power out there. Numerous heroes have it, and it is famous for a reason. In a primarily physical world, strength matters a lot. Where everything else might fail, sometimes brute strength might just be the key.
There is no better example of this than Superman. Likely the strongest ever conceived, this hero has had some mind-boggling feats of strength. In one such instance, the Man of Steel’s punch caused ripples in time and space, meaning his punch had enough strength to affect reality. How insane is that? The Man of Tomorrow has used his strength to save the universe more than we can count.
Let’s not forget that he could bench press the Earth.
Better get to the gym.
