Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned in Spider-Man: No Way Home, hints at future villain roles in the MCU!
Jacob Batalon’s Ned learns in Spider-Man: No Way Home that one of his variants turns into a villain in the multiverse. This gave birth to several speculations among the fans regarding the potential appearance of Hobgoblin, the supervillain ally of other Spider-Man antagonists in the comics.
Although Marvel and Sony haven’t revealed any significant piece of information yet regarding the same, fans keep receiving frequent teases from the actor Jacob Batalon who plays Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned, in the Spider-Man franchise.
Batalon recently appeared on the Dark House Podcast to discuss his upcoming role in Reginald the Vampire. Upon being asked whether he would consider playing negative roles in the future to which, he replied, “You know, I’d love to,” elaborating further, he added, “I feel like as an actor [when I was in drama school] I really gravitated more towards really dark dramatic things as opposed to comedy and things of like that nature but I found, you know…playing Ned and Reginald, it has sort of given me this light where I wasn’t seeing things so negatively and I wasn’t thinking so deeply or darkly about things… it’s a very light presence and it’s been a very positive effect on my life. So I feel like… I’m looking forward to doing a lot of other things, which you know people may not see me doing right now. But yeah, those things are in the works for sure.”
Due to some past instances, it can be conquered that Batalon has his attention slightly gravitated toward darker shades of characters. Back in June, he posted an Instagram story holding a Hobgoblin action figure, which further ignited the fans into hoping for a possible shift in the Spider-Man storylines moving forward.

Who knows, Marvel, who’s been notorious for teasing fans with easter eggs and future movie plans in their post-credits, slips some of the scenes that could hint at this scenario put to action on the big screen quite soon.
But then there’s Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who, in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, said this, “The truth is, all of the tags are never just about the future. There are tags that are eating shawarma, Captain America saying you know you gotta learn patience, sometimes, you know, you wait for something that’s not worth it. So they are always fun for us.”
He added, “We don’t want everything to feel the same. So some of the tags will connect and some of them won’t. Some of the films and shows will connect; some of them won’t. I think it’s just as important that we can have standalone introductory stories like Ms. Marvel, like Moon Knight, in addition to things that interconnect and build towards the larger story. A lot of what we’ve been doing has been building to this larger story, obviously with The Kang Dynasty and the Multiverse Saga, and now I think people will, I hope, come along for the ride. Both where it’s you’re on the express train to the finale, also when it’s fun, as many of our Phase 1, 2 and 3 films were.”
Even though this adds more questions to the entire scenario, only time will tell what projects are under Marvel’s belt and how they would turn out if these statements from both these personalities are considered.

Rest assured, the fourth installment of the Spider-Man might have something that once again makes us cling to the edge of our seats. Till then, we can only hope for Sony and Marvel to stay on good terms and churn out blockbusters like the previous three movies of Spider-Man in the MCU.
