See a real-time yellow or gold circle around a player on the map? Do you think it’s weird that the circle keeps track of the players’s location?
Well, first of all, it’s not a storm circle. In fact, these circles indicate something infinitely valuable. If used correctly, you can even win with its help.
So what are these things?
The Yellow or Gold circles on a map indicate the Society Medallions a Fortnite player has. These can be found in 5 places- Snooty Steppers, Grand Glacier, Reckless Railways, Lavish Lair, and Fencing Fields. Players must defeat five bosses- Peter Griffin, Oscar, Nisha, Montague, and Valeria- to get them. These Medallions regenerate a player’s shield and act as Vault keys.
Explained: The Yellow/Gold Circles in Fortnite Chapter 5 Map
You must have seen the yellow or gold circles in Fortnite Chapter 5 following a player around on the map. Some have a larger radius, while others have a smaller one. If you thought they were tracking a player, you are right.
The yellow circle appears when a player possesses a Society Medallion, indicating the location range of Medallion holders. Its size decreases as more Medallions are collected, making players more visible to everyone in the match.
As the player moves in Fortnite, the circle adjusts on the map, aiding real-time position tracking. This dynamic feature helps anticipate their movements. If a player drops their Medallion(s), the circle vanishes from the map.
But why collect these things if they give away the location? Because it gives protection and serves as a warning, too.
Society Medallions offer more than just location tracking; they regenerate a player’s shield. Accumulating more Medallions increases the shield regeneration rate. This empowers aggressive players, reducing their reliance on Shield Potions and Medkits.
The recent rework enhances consumables, but skilled players find them less necessary. The gold circles signal potent shield protection, making potential adversaries reconsider their actions.
How to Get the Society Medallions?
Getting these Society Medallions isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible.
When it comes to acquiring these Society Medallions, they can be obtained either through stealing or by defeating five unique bosses, each of which holds one of these coveted items.
These bosses are located in specific Named Locations, which include:
- Snooty Steppers
- Grand Glacier
- Reckless Railways
- Lavish Lair
- Fencing Fields
The five bosses you’ll encounter are:
- Peter Griffin
- Oscar
- Nisha
- Montague
- Valeria
Know that these bosses have supporting allies, so keep recovery items with you before going into battle. Also, note that other players will also want to get these valuable items. The advice is to be prepared.
Following the defeat of the bosses, players can collect their corresponding Society Medallion, and here’s the intriguing part – these Medallions do not consume an inventory slot.
Consequently, players can enjoy the benefits of these items while maintaining a complete loadout.
That’s not all that Society Medallions can do.
These Society Medallions double as keycards for accessing Vaults. These Vaults are strategically placed at critical locations alongside formidable boss encounters. Once you’ve defeated a boss and secured their Society Medallion, you can unlock a Vault.
Effectively functioning as a Vault Keycard, the Medallion can be presented to the Vault’s scanner, providing seamless access to the treasures within.
Within the Vault, you’ll find a Mod Bench, a valuable tool that empowers you to customize your weapons with various attachments.
These modifications can alter the in-game performance of your weapons, allowing you to tailor them to your specific playstyle and preferences.
It’s crucial to remember that weapon modifications come at a cost, paid in the form of Gold Bars, a valuable in-game currency. Once you’ve applied these changes to your weapons, they become permanent unless you revisit the Mod Bench.
This feature adds an extra layer of strategy and decision-making to your gameplay, as you must carefully consider the trade-offs and advantages of your weapon modifications before committing to them.
