Although the past few months have been a roller coaster ride for Henry Cavill, thanks to constant casting back and forth by WB and Gunn-Safran duo, the British actor has now decided to take up the creative decisions under his belt. He’s beginning with building a full-fledged Warhammer Cinematic Universe based on the miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000.
- Former Superman star Henry Cavill is all set to produce a Warhammer Cinematic Universe.
- Amazon Studios has secured the rights to the miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000 created by Games Workshop.
- The actor announced the update on his Instagram and has started looking for a Filmmaker/Creator/Writer to move things forward.
- Cavill recently lost the role of Superman after James Gunn, and Peter Safran took over as DC Studios Co-CEOs.
Just a day ago, when literally everyone on the Internet was losing their minds on DC’s treatment of its star Henry Cavill who began dawning Superman’s cape in 2013, Cavill bounced back, signaling WB execs he isn’t done yet.
The Witcher star has now partnered with Amazon Studios to work as an executive producer for Warhammer Cinematic Universe, a live-action adaptation of the Sci-fi wargame Warhammer 40,000 created by Games Workshop.
The announcement first came to light on the official Warhammer Community Website, “The agreement encompasses rights to the universe across series, film, and more,” Amazon Studios said in an official statement.
“This is the first deal of its kind for Amazon Studios for IP of this scale, and it allows the company to utilize the title across its entertainment businesses,” it continues. “Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is set to star in and executive produce the Warhammer 40,000 franchise across all Amazon Studios productions.”
As per this statement, it can only be concluded that Amazon has brought the rights to Warhammer 40,000 with no TV Show/Movie titles announced yet. Also, the speculation about Henry playing a character in the anticipated Warhammer Cinematic Universe or just acting as the producer hasn’t been announced by either party.
Hours ago, Henry Cavill posted a video on his Instagram sharing his excitement about bringing the game to life. The caption reads, “For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life.”
Earlier, Amazon’s latest press release revealed that Cavill has partnered with Vertigo Entertainment, led by President Natalie Viscuso, to bring the rights to Amazon Studios.
The actor is looking forward to enjoying creative liberty under Amazon’s wings and hoping to deliver something familiar and fantastic for all the Warhammer fans out there. Amazon Studios is also developing a live-action series based on the God of War action-adventure video game franchise.
