Despite disappointing the Witchers’ fans, Henry Cavill’s return as Superman is a dream come true for all DC fanatics. In MCU language, Henry Cavill is just like Robert Downey Jr.
Cavill’s Man of Steel kick-started the DCEU, and the current DCEU was recently renamed DCU [DC Universe]. After Zack Snyder’s dismissal from all the DC projects, Cavill’s future came in jeopardy.
Joss Wheadon’s Justice League’s poor run in the box office did not help his future. After speculation of a soft reboot with the upcoming Flash movie, Henry Cavill’s Superman was going to face extinction without any official announcement.
But recent changes in Warner Brothers studio came hugely in favor of the British actor. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam’s post-credit scene confirmed Cavill’s official return as Superman. But sadly, the actor was forced to leave the Witcher project due to scheduling and creative conflicts.
Talking to Deadline’s The Film That Lit My Fuse video series, Cavill revealed many things on his return. It was an open secret that Warner Brothers studio had a lot of unrest. The actor also hinted at those aspects, saying, “As an actor, you have to learn that there are things out of your control, no matter what you may think, no matter how your performance was, no matter what factor were not in your control in the first place, no matter how the audience feels.”
Henry Cavill also revealed that he was uncertain about everything but felt “very, very lucky” to get the opportunity back to play the iconic role again.
Cavill talked about how passionate he is about the role as he added, “There’s something so true and honest and hopeful, which is the best of all of us, and I love that.”
In the chat, The actor also recalled his first audition, which was in 2006’s film Superman Returns. At that time, the role went to Brandon Routh. But The Man from U.N.C.L.E actor was able to play the superhero in 2013’s Man of Steel movie. After a few years, Cavill reprised his role again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017).
Henry Cavill’s First Reaction About Superman On The Internet
Only a week ago, the actor confirmed that he would again wear the red cape to make his return to DCU. In a video posted to Instagram, he also said, “I wanted to wait the weekend before posting this because I wanted to give you all the chance to watch Black Adam. But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman,”
Black Adam hit theatres on October 21, but the fans were also guessing Cavill’s return after Dwayne Johnson teased a return of Superman would be possible in his anti-hero flick.
With the video post confirming his return, Cavill also added a beautiful caption to tease the fans that more is coming from the Man of Steel. He wrote, “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.”
