Buck Lanford, the familiar face on ‘Good Day Atlanta,’ had been conspicuously absent from our screens, leaving fans speculating about his well-being. But fear not, folks! The man himself has shed some light on his absence.

In a heartwarming social media post, Buck Lanford, the host of ‘Good Day Atlanta,’ addressed his extended hiatus that had his fans worried sick. 

Buck Lanford stepped away from hosting ‘Good Day Atlanta’ for a much-needed surgery resulting from an old football injury. In a heartfelt Facebook post on January 10, 2024, he thanked viewers and Eric Perry, who is filling in for him. A WAGA spokesperson anticipates a six-week absence.

Buck Lanford took a step back from his hosting duties to undergo a much-needed surgery. He revealed that this procedure was long overdue and aimed at fixing an old football injury that had been haunting him for years. 

In a heartfelt message on his public Facebook page on January 10, 2024, Buck expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of concern from his loyal viewers. He penned:

“Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern about my absence on ‘Good Day Atlanta.’ Wanted to let you know that I had a long overdue procedure to repair an old football injury suffered many, many moons ago.”

He further wrote,

“I’m on the mend and doing as well as could be expected.”

Buck also extended his thanks to Eric Perry, who filled in for him during his absence.

As Buck looks forward to a full recovery, he can’t wait to get back to what he does best – entertaining us and exploring delicious burgers in his popular food review segment known as “Burgers With Buck.” 

This statement from Buck shows his trademark humor and enthusiasm, and it’s a clear sign that he’s raring to return to his hosting duties.

So, how long will we have to wait to see Buck back on our screens? According to a spokesperson for WAGA, Buck Lanford is expected to be away for approximately six weeks. 

While that may seem like an eternity, it’s essential for him to take the time he needs to recover fully.

Buck Lanford is no stranger to the world of journalism and sports coverage. He’s been a part of the WAGA news station since 1998, bringing his unique style and expertise to our screens.

Before that, he served as a sports anchor with CBS affiliate WTOC in nearby Savannah, Georgia. 

Throughout his illustrious career, Buck has covered some of the most significant sporting events, including the Super Bowl, The Masters, the World Series, the March Madness Final Four, and the PGA Championship, just to name a few. 

His dedication and talent have earned him five Emmy Awards, a testament to his outstanding contributions to the field.

Apart from his impressive career, Buck Lanford is a family man through and through. He has three children, further emphasizing the importance of his health and well-being. 

As he takes this necessary break to recover, we can all look forward to his return, where he’ll continue to bring his signature charm and charisma to our screens.
