The DC Extended Universe is about to get its big break from the worldwide release of one of the year’s biggest projects, Black Adam, which is just a week away from giving the fans what they’ve always wanted. And amidst that, Dwayne Johnson shines as the ‘people’s champ.’ Johnson is currently leading the Black Adam global press junket, and with every appearance of him in an interview, he’s been creating waves that the internet just can’t get enough of.
But that’s not all. “The Rock” can be clearly seen being invested in this project with all his heart and soul and has something for everyone, as he was in the reports of actually convincing Warner Bros. to bring Henry Cavill on board and ultimately give DC what it has always wanted, cultural domination with its cinematic universe known as DCEU. And it looks like Johnson has succeeded in delivering the studio the elixir of happiness.
On the third day of Black Adam global press junket, Dwayne Johnson appeared on Jake’s Takes to give a spoiler-free (No, it was everything but spoiler-free!) interview, talking about a potential Superman vs. Black Adam matchup and who will land the first blow. He also gave several details to create our specific set of theories that are, at this point, more than just theories.
The Rock is known to be a people’s champ for a reason. Even when he was a pro wrestler, his ability to listen to the fans gave him immense success in every field he stepped in, and today, every DC fan is thanking him for it.
Ever since he landed the role of Black Adam, fans started fantasizing about his standoffs with some of the big guns of the DC universe, Superman, Batman, and Aquaman. Still, his experience in the ring gave every fan a base to start with.
Has his experience in DC been similar to what he had in WWE? To which he says, “Yes, number 1, and number 2, me cutting my teeth and making my bones in pro wrestling even before WWE when I started down in Memphis wrestling for Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, Jerry Jarret, and Jeff Jarret and wrestling at those little flea markets that I used to wrestle at; then getting to WWE, I think that my experience in the world of pro wrestling helped me craft an even better Black Adam because ultimately what the world of wrestling always did for me.”
Expanding The DCEU
On delivering Black Adam the way fans always wanted, he added, “Number 1, always listen to the audience. Let them inform you. They will always inform you on where you need to go, but then also do your best to think ten, twelve, twenty steps ahead.”
The actor shed some light on his ultimate goal, which was to deliver new characters to the DCEU, and how his show-biz experience at WWE helped him bring his vision to life at a much larger scale.
He added, “So in the world of wrestling, oftentimes, If I knew what our WrestleMania Main Event would be. Me and say ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, we’d work backwards from there. So it’s the same thing where the ultimate goal was not only to deliver Black Adam but also to deliver the JSA, five new characters in one movie but then also man, let’s stretch this universe out.”
But as he was talking about his reasons to expand the DCEU, he accidentally did spill some beans (or that’s what he wants us to believe), saying, “And let’s think about what it looks like if Batman were to face…I’m sorry, Black Adam were to face any of these other characters.” Jake was too quick to point this out as Dwayne Johnson jokingly admitted, “There’s something there!”
Yeah, you read it right. More characters to face Black Adam in the future, huh? Who knows, Johnson has everything planned out in his mind.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Admiration For Superman
Addressing the elephant in the room, upon being asked what the fight between Superman and Black Adam looks like in his mind and who lands the first punch, he replied, “I think Black Adam lands the first punch. Now I don’t know Black Adam lands the last punch because Superman…I grew up a DC boy…Superman…I love Superman, I loved Superman and I still do, clearly!”
Also, Johnson was hardly hesitant to emphasize his vision for the upcoming projects consisting of Black Adam. He responded, “Jake I could see things so clearly on how that scene looks like, what that scene looks like, what the film looks like, and what the next three films look like.” But he quickly took his stance on whether the vision sees the light of the day as he said, “Now, whether or not that comes to fruition, that always helps when you have that kind of clarity, but here’s what I do know. Listening to the fans when I was wrestling. Always led and guided me just like now.”

Also, In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, The big guy just said it out. When the host asked Dwayne Johnson if he intends to fight Superman, Here’s what the Rock said.
“Absolutely. That is the whole point of this man. Thank you for asking that. There’s a new era in the DC Universe that’s about to begin. ‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans and doing our best to give the fans what they want.”
Henry Cavill’s Superman Return In The Current DCEU
Johnson has always been vocal about his wishes to portray Black Adam in the best possible way and has been working on the project for several years now.
His attempts to cement the character of Black Adam in DCEU have finally started to take shape as he admits, “For the past ten years as I was pushing Black Adam up this hill to get made, for the past five, six, seven years, I was also listening to the fans, at the same time. Where you have Black Adam, we will create Black Adam to be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet — the most powerful and unstoppable force in the universe has been on the sidelines for too long.”
This statement alone holds power to direct everyone’s attention to a plethora of questions circulating in the movie. Is he talking about Superman? Do the powers of Black Adam rival the other characters at a universal level? And much more to follow. As we’re getting nearer to the release date of Black Adam, it seems Johnson just blatantly just admits the return of Superman in the movie.
Or you could take this clip from an interview with ET that has everyone rolling!
Whoa! This sure puts the last nail in the coffin. Amidst all these promotional interviews, one thing is for sure, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s passion project Black Adam opened the doors for our beloved DCEU to bring interesting storylines with some amazing characters from the comics.

DC, struggling to keep up with the fans’ demands a few years back, is now on everyone’s mind. Thanks to directors like Matt Reeves and James Gunn and now actors like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena (with Peacemaker), it looks like things are finally getting better for the executives at WB. Wrestlers know it better, eh?
Whatever the case, maybe, fans are actually the ones winning, and DCEU marks the beginning of this. Who to thank? Someone who can smell what “The Rock” is cooking 😉
Black Adam is all set to hit the theatres on October 21, 2022.
Well, What do you think…Nah, The big guy says, It doesn’t matter what you think.
