While anime offers countless exciting titles from various genres, there are barely any decent ones in the horror genre, which is among the most preferred genres.

Apart from a few ones, including Another, Higurashi: When They Cry, and Shiki, there aren’t many pure horrors. If you’ve been looking forward to watching a similar anime, Corpse Party might be right up your alley.

With that in mind, here are a few specifics of Corpse Party that you need to know, including its plot, cast, episodes, and more.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls is a short horror anime based on a manga, Corpse Party: Blood Covered, which was illustrated by Toshimi Shinomiya and written by Makoto Kedouin.

The anime was released as OVA (Original Video Animation) and only consisted of four episodes, but there was also a prequel titled “Corpse Party: Missing Footage.”

However, you need not watch it beforehand because it was created as a prequel story to the manga. So, watch the anime first, and then you can watch this 12-minute short episode.

There are no sequels for the anime as of yet, and it is highly unlikely that they would make one, but a new game titled “Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion” is coming in 2024.

The story follows a group of students from the Kisaragi Academy, who, after learning that one of them is leaving the school, decide to bid farewell by performing a ritual known as “Sachiko Ever After,” which they believe will keep them forever as friends.

However, once they finish their ritual using paper dolls, they are transported to the Heavenly Host Academy, an elementary school in another dimension that was destroyed years ago.

Apparently, a series of murders have occurred at the Heavenly Host, and the students trapped in this dimension now must face the ghosts of past victims and murderers while trying to find a way home.
