Bleach has always been the anime that brought surprises, whether in the form of Aizen’s genius plotting or Ichigo Kurosaki’s unbelievable transformation.
In the recent installment of the franchise, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 2 Finale, fans were fortunate enough to witness another visually striking and emotionally conflicting scene regarding Squad Zero.
In Bleach: TYBW part 2 final episode titled “Black,” to combat Yhwach’s forces, three Squad Zero members apart from Senjumaru and Ichibe have sacrificed their lives to awaken Senjumaru’s Bankai. Apparently, the squad members all possessed astronomical power levels that could even destroy realms, so they all formed a blood oath pact to seal their Zanpakutos. According to the pact, only one member could use the full power, but the rest must die to achieve it.
Let’s explore Squad Zero’s blood oath pact in detail and whether they could be revived in the future below.
Bleach: TYBW Part 2 Finale: Squad Zero’s Sacrifice Explained
The members of Squad Zero possess unbelievable powers that put them above most members of Soul Society, and they are the last line of defense to the spirit world, and that’s one of the reasons why they never leave Spirit Realm unless necessary.
Bleach TYBW’s second-part finale has put the fate of Soul Society at risk due to the terrifying power Schutzstaffel possesses. However, Squad Zero was fully prepared to confront them head-on, but unfortunately, some sacrifices had to be made.
Each Squad Zero member is incredibly powerful, as the fate of any realm could be challenged with one of them unleashing their full power. So, to be cautious of their abilities, everyone except Ichibe decided to seal their Zanpakutos.
In a riveting finale against the Yhwach’s forces, Squad Zero had no alternative but to use the blood oath pact they formed in order to stop the impending doom, and the squad members, Oetsu Nimaiya, Tenjiro Kirinji, and Kirio Hikifune have sacrificed to fully unlock Senjumaru’s power.
Senjumaru was particularly chosen because she possesses the power of thousands of hands, making her Bankai in full force capable of fighting multiple enemies. When the Squad Zero members’ selfless act of sacrificing their lives initiated, Senjumaru released her Bankai, which has an awfully long name, Shatatsu Karagara Shigarami no Tsuji.
After releasing her Bankai, her power caused shivers across the realms, including the World of Living, and she eventually overwhelmed the enemies with her giant loom made of fabrics, leading her to an easy victory.
With each strand of her Bankai, a foe has met its demise, with Gerald and Jugram dying with the fourth and fifth strands. Unfortunately, Uryu was also affected by her ability, losing his life force at a visible rate. But it is still not clear whether he truly lost his life.
Can Squad Zero Come Back to Life?
Squad Zero members are technically not mortals, so they can come back to life any moment, but everyone has to pay a huge price for that to happen. Furthermore, remember when we mentioned that Ichibe Hyosube was the only Squad Zero member with no pact?
He alone possesses the ability to bring back the deceased Squad Zero members to life, but we prefer not to spoil anything so that you can experience it firsthand from the manga.
So, what do you think about the final episode of Bleach: TYBW Part 2? Were you expecting such a selfless sacrifice from Squad Zero?
