At this point, it looks like DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran’s 8-10 year clean slate DCU plan will take a year or two to make sense to its now exhausted fandom.
People outside the DC-Warner Bros. bubble find it hard even to comprehend which direction the company is heading. For today’s entry, the Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has come forward, putting an end to speculations describing her as the reason why Wonder Woman 3 suffered creative conflicts.
- Amid DCU project cancellation reports, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins spoke out on “not allowing inaccuracies to continue.”
- Jenkins opened up about behind-the-scenes events regarding Wonder Woman 3 and that the project might still be under active development.
- DC leading man James Gunn responded to Jenkins’ statements describing the conversation as undoubtedly within professional boundaries despite what the rumors said.
Last night, Jenkins took to her official Twitter to push back the rumors and address her side of the story as she “never walked away and was open to considering anything asked of her.”
To her statement, James Gunn also replied that any interactions he and Safran had with the director on behalf of DC Studios “were only pleasant and professional.”

Saving The DC Trinity
Reactions to this statement had fans asking not to recast the DCU trinity: Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. It also seems pretty clear on Warner Bros.’s part as they’d not be willing to part ways with the actors that serve as the main attraction to loyal fan communities. Or, more specifically, among the SnyderVerse fans.
Over a span of a few months, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has scrapped several projects, disappointing fans right, left and center. Batgirl, animated Strange Adventures series, and Wonder Twins as part of efforts to cut costs at Warner Bros. Discovery.

What Now For DCU?
James Gunn, who’s played a crucial part in shaping how the MCU is today with his Guardians of the Guardians, had also previously stated his plans to construct a DC Universe that stretches across film, TV, and animation.
However, this 10-year plan to revamp DC’s image as a whole has raised many concerns. Previously reports of fans asking Snyder to take over DC’s leadership also surfaced, given what influence his SnyderVerse has on the entire fandom.
As for now, it looks like Patty Jenkins won’t be returning for Wonder Woman 3, ultimately putting the last nail in the coffin as another project gets shelved. We can only hope the character stays around, as losing Wonder Woman is hard to imagine for execs and all the leading men inside the DC/Warner Bros. HQ.
