Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been all over the news for the past few weeks. (For all the right reasons, of course!) The star recently hosted the global premiere of Black Adam in New York, and things couldn’t be better for Warner Bros as most of the early reviews are positive. This latest DCEU project has left critics awestruck, and it’s only a matter of days before the movie hits theatres across the globe creating waves on the Internet. (We’re pretty sure it will!)
Amidst the rumors of Henry Cavill’s return as Superman, Johnson, who on several occasions has teased this, talks about how it took years to get his idea ‘across the finish line.’ ‘The Rock’ is currently in Toronto to promote Black Adam. And in an interview with Narcity, upon being asked about the efforts put into getting the surprise across the table, he said, “There were a lot of phone calls to get that across the finish line, as you can imagine, as one can imagine. Because that’s not an easy, hey, we have this idea, and they’re like, yeah, great, go! Do it. No.”
Johnson talked about how many phone calls and meetings were behind the execution of this idea, with his team at Seven Bucks production constantly showing up to get things up and running. “It was a lot of phone calls but, it was also a lot of meetings. It was a lot of face-to-face meetings. I can talk to you and my team, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, at Seven Bucks. We can talk to you about how passionate we are about this and why we do feel that this serves not only Black Adam, but it serves the larger DC Universe.”

The actor has garnered a huge following due to this. This, combined with his natural charisma, stands out as the reason he was able to cement his position in Hollywood as one of the most bankable stars of his time.
Johnson has surely used his grandiose persona to impact the execution of things at DCEU, and it seems all his efforts are finally leading up to creating a milestone in pop culture.
The actor famously admits this. “But more importantly than that, it takes care of the fans. And that’s what you want your lead foot to be. So, yes, phone calls, meetings. But man, it was years.”
To think that the actor wasn’t required to put his time, hard work, and patience on the line is definitely an understatement. Johnson reportedly had been working to bring Black Adam out of the comic-book panels to the big screen for quite a while now. Negotiations, change of management inside Warner Bros., the executives wanting to launch Black Adam alongside Shazam in 2019, and the pandemic. Johnson has been through it all.
“This was six years to get that done. I’m going to say that again. Six years. We first started talking about this and they kept saying no. Now that leadership isn’t there anymore, because we usher in a new era in the DC Universe and we usher out an old era in the DC Universe too as well. So, six years long, that’s how long it took.”
Well, after all this time, the actor can now take a shot of his Teremana Tequilla in peace as most of the audience that has experienced Black Adam just loves it.

As for the DCEU fans, this movie is sure looking to set a whole new benchmark among the stories that are to be told soon. From this point on, the future of DCEU would undergo a paradigm shift, putting the right decision-makers at the forefront.
We can only keep our hopes high into believing that just as the fans and the creators came together to bring Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a collective effort to make DCEU rise back from its ashes would be appreciated equally by everyone involved. Be it the actors, fans, critics, and even competitors. A small step for Warner Bros., a huge leap for superhero fans.
