With the autumn weather and serene vibes, September is the month of listening to jazz/soft music in the warmth of your blanket with hot cocoa. And who better to represent this aesthetic than our jazz king of seductively honey vocals, Kim Taehyung?

All the members of BTS have been releasing their solos one by one while the older ones are enlisting for mandatory military service. The six solo ventures have broken records, entered global charts, and won multiple music awards.

Meanwhile, each member has been in the spotlight for their individual work– J-Hope performed at Lollapalooza, Suga held solo concerts, RM collaborated with several artists, Jin performed with Coldplay, Jimin appeared in several variety shows and was invited to late-night talk shows, and Jungkook performed at the World Cup. ARMYs’ support was the ray of light for each member to shine in their own way.

And after months of waiting, the final member, Kim Taehyung, finally announced his solo debut album to be released in September. ARMYs have already started preparing streaming goals and events to show their unwavering support. However, there seems to be a rift in the fandom due to another ARMYs announcement.

A global fanbase account for OT7 tweeted a global army song project to be released in September. This created a conflict in the fandom where they believed that initiating an OT7 project during a member’s solo venture would dim the limelight of the individual. ARMYs were irked about the scheduling of the project when Taehyung announced his album “Layover.” They are of the opinion that when a member is going solo, all focus should be on him for the entire month to reach the desired goals. Hence, ‘ARMYs Stop Sabotaging Taehyung’ is trending on Twitter because the other spectrum of the fandom feels that it is unfair to the individual.

Why Is ‘ARMYs Stop Sabotaging Taehyung’ Trending on Twitter?

Every year, a group of ARMYs voluntarily gathers together to release a song dedicated to BTS.

This is their way of showing gratitude to the most influential band in the world, who made a difference in ARMYs’ lives in some way. It forms an emotional bond between the group and their fans. These projects are usually led by a global fan account username @t_gasp_official.

The same account announced this year’s project–

Get ready! Our #2023GlobalARMYSong is coming! Could we possibly be going down memory lane? Creating new nostalgia? Which language are you hoping to hear this year?

We’re so excited! Be sure to save these dates & stay tuned for September 30th KST! pic.twitter.com/cYlwBoSK2o

According to the schedule, the song will be released in September with the following timeline–

  • 23/9: Title release
  • 24/9: Album Cover Snippet
  • 25/9: Actual Album Cover
  • 26/9: Teaser 1
  • 27/9: Secret Code
  • 28/9: Lyrics Snippet
  • 29/9: Teaser 2
  • 30/9: Final song release

This led other fans to believe the timing would sabotage Taehyung’s solo activities. To release a group song in the middle of a member’s solo venture is unnecessary and also diverts from the individual’s spotlight.

Many netizens opposed this decision and requested the group project be postponed till October. The basic point of this discourse is that an OT7 project should be released when there are no scheduled solo activities.

“This is a really wholesome project that I look forward to every year, but I believe that it should be scheduled for November as we should be focusing more on Taehyung’s album considering all the efforts and hardwork he has put into it. We ask for your consideration!!”

“This is much appreciated. But you may have overlooked the fact that September is Taehyung’s solo debut month. Surely, as TRUE ARMYs who profess to love all 7, you’d love to focus on Taehyung’s solo activities, too. We trust that your purple blood will win out and consider moving this to give way to Taehyung who purples us all. Thank you”

“When Taehyung said love all 7, he meant include him too. What a way to show that love, trying to be self-important. Be honest with yourselves: do you want to release ARMY SONG as appreciation for the members or do you want the members to recognize and notice you? Coz there’s a world of difference.”

“This project is beautiful, yes!!! But I am not sure it should be sharing a month when one of the artist this is about is releasing an album as well. We need to be focused as a fandom and work together to achieve the best results. This is the same reason the company does not release solo projects at the same time!!. The focus should be on one person, and one person alone: KIM TAEHYUNG”

After several flooded opinions, the global fanbase account released another statement on the project–

Meanwhile, some ARMYs believed a small project wouldn’t hamper the global star’s much-awaited debut.

“I’m confused as to why we can’t do both? We’re celebrating JK’s birthday on September 1st, Namjoon’s birthday on September 12th, and Global ARMY’s song for BTS on September 30th, which isn’t going to stop us from enjoying Layover on September 8th. Trust me, we will all celebrate Tae’s album release with all the love we have, and it’s going to be amazing! Let’s just all look forward to a great month!”

“I can’t believe people actually think this would take attention away from Taehyung’s album it’s just a fun thing for us, I say do what you want. IN FACT, Taehyung HIMSELF, JUST HOURS AGO TODAY, asked for more fan created content.”

“A 3 minutes song made by fans 3 weeks later won’t affect a global superstar. If you think so you’re diminishing Tae’s status. And ARMY songs were updated in the same month of other bts releases with no problem at all. Thank you for your efforts army.”

“Please ignore everyone saying to move the release. It’s a fan song. It’s a great idea but nowhere near the level of “competing/taking away” from Tae. It’s called multitasking/prioritizing. Listen to the fan song once/a day and Tae multiple times a day. It’s not rocket science.”

From a little girl who wrote school plays and made her friends act in them to an adolescent who got into dark humor, Yashica has built her own universe of peculiar characters inspired by great cinema. She has imbibed the philosophies of David Fincher's characters but lives like the eccentricity of Phoebe Waller Bridge's women. Her metahumans are those who can use the power of words to create an elixir of emotions and bring them to life on screen. Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Ilana-Abbi, Raj-DK, Anurag Kashyap, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and others are her Marvel's Avengers. With over two years of experience as a content writer, her writing pieces are well-researched, with a sprinkle of her opinions/inferences that keep the audiences engaged. She is still exploring more on the anime scene but is highly intrigued by it. The cinephile in her makes her appreciate the intricacies of filmmaking. You will get a lot more insight into it in her articles and thoroughly enjoy her explanations. Well, someday, you might see Yashica as one of the writers for a movie-- it's her ultimate dream!
