Dragon Ball is, without a doubt, one of the best anime shows out there, presenting a wide variety of characters we adore, such as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Chi-Chi.

Speaking of Chi-Chi, do you know she hates Super Saiyans? Well, if you have seen the anime or read the manga, you would. But why does she hate them?

Chi-Chi, the wife of Goku, hates Super Saiyans because she grew up reading fantasy books where she imagined a perfect and simple family with no quarrels whatsoever. However, thanks to Super Saiyans, Goku and Gohan were constantly at war trying to save the planet, making her worry about their safety.

Let’s explore why Chi-Chi hates Super Saiyans in detail below.

Explained: Why Chi-Chi’s Hate for Super Saiyans Is Unreal

As we know, Chi-Chi is the daughter of the Ox-King, who later married Goku. Despite growing up learning martial arts, she seems to hate the Super Saiyans who excel in fighting.

In the anime, Chi-Chi is portrayed as a gentle young girl who falls in love with Goku for his innocence, but her expectations are flipped when they marry after growing up.

From a very young age, Goku always found himself in the midst of battles, whether in the form of searching for the lost dragon balls or facing the threat of Frieza, who threatened to wipe out the planet.

On the other hand, Chi-Chi, as the princess of Fire Mountain, grew up reading tales of happy families after she had a crush on Goku when she was young.

However, when she married him, everything was different, with Goku mostly staying away from her due to his constant battle involvements and the emergence of Super Saiyans such as Vegeta, who wanted to wipe out the planet.

To add fuel to the fire, Gohan, the couple’s first child, is born with incredible potential, and while he was in his teens, he was forced to train with his father to protect the universe from extraterrestrial threats.

Chi-Chi wanted her son to become a normal citizen with ambitions like becoming the President of a country, but not one who constantly puts himself in danger, but reality hits differently.

Another critical theory is that in the 90s, Japan was famous for high school students turning into delinquents who used to dye their hair and behave arrogantly, as shown in various anime shows.

When Gohan or Goten, her second son, transforms into a Super Saiyan, their hair becomes yellowish, giving her a sense of them becoming delinquents, but it is just a representation.

Super Saiyans: *exist*

In addition, Goku, despite being one of the strongest beings in the universe, is plainly dumb like a regular shonen main character, and Chi-Chi wants her sons to study like normal children, have fun with friends, and gain knowledge.

Thanks to the constant intervention of Super Saiyans like Broly, she couldn’t raise their kids like a typical family, and neither was completely happy seeing them all together living in peace.

As a woman of the family, it is perfectly normal for Chi-Chi to have such beautiful dreams, and that’s precisely why she hates Super Saiyans.

So, what are your thoughts on Chi-Chi? Is her reason to hate Super Saiyans justifiable on the broader picture of saving the world?
