When our real life was all about the mundane routine of waking up, school/work, eating, sleeping, and repeating, Uncharted Game was the voyeuristic adventure that helped us escape into a fantasy world.
Watching Nathan Drake explore, combat, solve puzzles, and jump off planes with optimum adrenaline was the best gaming experience. The graphics, storyline, visuals, elements of fantasy and folklore and hours of escapism made the game much more exciting and critically acclaimed. Written by Amy Henning and developed by Naughty Dog, the game perfectly blends adventure, mystery, thrill, and epic action.
Naturally, the live-action adaptation of the game became the most anticipated movie of 2022. The Uncharted movie stars Tom Holland in the leading role as young Nathan Drake, Mark Wahlberg as Sully, a seasoned fortune hunter, Antonio Banderas as Santiago, a ruthless treasure hunter, and Rudy Pankow as Sam, Nathan’s long-lost brother.
The movie navigates the life of young Nathan and his ‘hero’s journey’ while the game is the continuation of grown-up Nathan. And with the most epic easter egg, the movie juxtaposes the two Nathans. Let us break this eggshell to know more:
Who Was the Guy on the Beach in Uncharted?
Young Nathan just experienced the most crucial phase of his life, where he realizes that his future definitely is the life of an explorer and an adventurer. As the trailer shows, he just plummeted off a plane, somehow managed to get back on, collided with a car inside the aircraft, and ended up free-falling straight into the sea.
While he manages to pull himself together and get out of the beach, he has an encounter with a random guy on the beach.
The man asks Nathan and Chloe, drenched and exhausted from the adventure of a lifetime–
“What the hell happened to you two?”
To which Nathan replies, “Fell out of a car, then fell out of a plane,”
And the man contemplates with a “Huh!” and says, “Something like that happened to me once.”
This is probably the most bizarre ordinary conversation between two strangers. But only a true Uncharted fan would know how legendary the scene is.
The random guy on the beach who talks to Tom Holland as Nathan is none other than Nolan North, who voiced the character of Nathan in the Uncharted video game.
Who Is Nolan North in Uncharted?
When Nolan North says, “Something like that happened to me once,” only the gamers know the true essence of this statement. In the game, Nathan meets with a similar challenge when during a grueling combat scene, he has to manage somehow to survive the free fall off a plane. The player must find a way to keep the character alive.
Nolan North is an acclaimed voice actor with a plethora of video game credits, bringing a unique take on each character. Nolan’s voice for Nathan brings out the true persona of the character.
Since then, he has amassed a considerable fan following, where he is always greeted by thousands of gamers at comic con, gaming conventions, and more. He also held his meet-and-greet with fans of the game.
His cameo in the movie is supreme, considering that a young Nathan is actually looking at his future self.
Will There be Uncharted 2? Will Nolan North Have a Cameo In The Sequel?
Given that the video game has developed a franchise, there are several sequels to the gameplay. It is fair to say that the movie can also explore sequels since the 2022 movie was a box-office success.
Getting Nolan to do a cameo in the movie was convenient since the game was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the film was produced by Sony Pictures.
Even though Sony might release a sequel to the movie, it’s difficult to say whether Nolan would have a part in it.
