It’s Taylor’s era, and we are just living in it!
Taylor Swift kicked off her Eras Tour on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, setting a new benchmark of stellar performance as a gift to her fans. Needless to say, fans all over the world were hyped to see Ms. Swift in their city.
Brazil was all excited about the Eras Tour ever since Taylor Swift announced the International tour dates. Unbeknownst to them, the impending wrath of climate change was about to change the course of their memories.
On November 17, 2023, a fan succumbed to a heart-related condition at Taylor’s Swifts Eras concert in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Two more deaths were recorded in the next two days. A dozen more suffered due to extreme heat and dehydration. Taylor Swift got extremely emotional at the November 20 concert as she paid tribute to her fans by dedicating songs to them.
What Happened During Taylor Swift’s Concert In Brazil?
Brazil is suffering through scorching heat and extreme weather conditions this season. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was slated to perform in Rio De Janeiro from November 17-19, 2023.
The attendees were unable to handle the acute temperatures, and insufficient means to quench their thirst.
As a result, several fans succumbed to heat strokes and high heart palpitations. Some reports also suggest that a cup of water costs $2 at the venue.
The whole concert was a tragedy waiting to happen, and subsequently, a 23-year-old college student, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, passed away after the concert ended at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos. Her death was ruled to be due to cardiorespiratory arrest. This may be related to dire climatic conditions.
Albeit not much information, one more fan met with a similar fate due to heat. If things couldn’t get any worse, another tragedy struck the Swifties world when a 25-year-old fan, Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem Santos, from the center-west region, was stabbed to death on Copacabana beach at 3 a.m. on Monday, November 19.
The organizers immediately canceled the last tour date and postponed it by a day. During the last night’s concert, Taylor was visibly upset after discovering the tragic news that so many of her fans were experiencing a nightmare at her concert.
She also dedicated a song, “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” to her fans whose untimely deaths will be forever etched in the Swifties world.
