He revealed that he got addicted to food to comfort him from sadness and pain. Eventually, this habit took a toll on him, and he kept gaining excessive weight over the years. Jessica, his then-girlfriend and now wife, also shared how she wanted to have a normal life with Cillas.
Over the show, Cillas sought help from Dr. Younan Nowzaradan over the show. The doctor prescribed that stay in the hospital to maintain and enhance his diet. In a single month, he lost 139 pounds with the prescribed diet of the doctor. He further reduced 75 pounds in a rehabilitation facility.
Soon, Cillas was approved for weight loss surgery and even had a successful operation. By the end of the show, he had lost almost 388 pounds in a year.
