Star Wars Ahsoka has brought so many surprises to the galaxy far, far away, ranging from the return of several Rebels characters to the depth in which it explores the franchise’s lore.
The series will consist of eight episodes for the first season, and we’re already at the sixth episode, which has once again impressed the viewers, thanks to Dave Filoni’s phenomenal writing.
With the introduction of a new character in the series alongside the Grand Admiral Thrawn, many fans have raised the question of who actually the Golden Stormtrooper is.
In short, Thrawn’s Gold Stormtrooper is named Captain Enoch, played by Wes Chatham, who leads the Night Trooper legion under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Furthermore, his appearance also hints at the fact that the Witches of Dathomir may have resurrected him.
So, if you’re curious about learning more about him, keep reading.
Who Is Captain Enoch in Ahsoka?
Captain Enoch is Thrawn’s right-hand man, introduced as the loyal subordinate who doesn’t betray him no matter what. During Thrawn’s reign on Peridea, he’s already proven his worth, given the entire Night Trooper legion is led by him.
In the episode, Thrawn even introduces Captain Enoch to Morgan Elsbeth, Baylon Skoll, and Shin Hati, who traveled to another galaxy to save the Imperial Admiral to restore the first order.
It shows how Thrawn views Captain Enoch, and he is also portrayed as a cool-headed individual with firm control over his emotions, which is a must if one were to work under masterminds such as Thrawn.
Is Captain Enoch and the Night Troopers Really Zombies?
The introduction of Thrawn and the Night Troopers is akin to how the Night King was revealed in Game of Thrones, and they share so many similarities. In that sense, Captain Enoch and the rest of the legion give off the vibes of the undead.
This speculation is backed by the fact that the mask of Captain Enoch resembles that of the Witches of Dathomir from both the Rebels animated series and Ahsoka live-action.
Furthermore, there are a few hints in the show on how they keep mentioning that Peridea is a literal graveyard and Captain Enoch bidding farewell to Sabine Wren by saying, “Die Well.”
His mask and armor are coated with pure gold, and the Night Troopers’ suits are loosely wrapped in red threads, which seem to belong to the Witches of Dathomir who received Morgan Elsbeth.
So, it is highly probable that the entire Night Trooper legion may be resurrected, and it was already confirmed by the Star Wars lore that the Witches of Dathomir are, in fact, capable of breathing new life into the injured and bringing the dead back to life.
Did Captain Enoch Appear in Any Prior Star Wars Projects?
No. Captain Enoch has never been seen in any prior Star Wars projects, and the only possible show would be Rebels, which introduced the Grand Admiral Thrawn. So, he could very well be an experienced Stormtrooper.
Since the entire Chimera Star Destroyer was stranded in Peridia after it was forcibly dragged into hyperspace by Purgill, the gigantic whales that travel through the galaxies, we can assume Captain Enoch may have been one of the few troopers who followed Thrawn until the end.
Given the significance the series is placing on the Gold Stormtrooper, he will probably get a considerable sum of screen time in the coming two episodes, and we will possibly learn more about him.
