The Star Wars universe’s new sci-fi television series, Ahsoka, has been all over the place gaining appreciation. As the show has become the talk of the town, it is set to bring Grand Admiral Thrawn debuting in the live action.
In the books from the Expanded Universe, he first encountered Ahsoka Tano and the Ghost crew. Both played a vital role in his defeat, and it would be intriguing to see how it would fall in the live-action series. He was first set up in The Mandalorian season 2. However, this time, Lars Mikkelsen is set to play the Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka, as he previously voiced the character in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
Which Actor Is Playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka?
In Ahsoka’s recent episode, Admiral Thrawn and Sabine Wren face each other as their confrontation builds on their history in Star Wars Rebels. The actor playing Grand Admiral Thrawn is Lars Mikkelsen, who previously appeared in 17 episodes of the animated series voicing the same character.
The portrayal of the character immediately clicked with viewers, as Mikkelsen perfectly captured the villain’s intelligence, menace, and sense of superiority. Bringing an animated character into live-action came with a lot of responsibilities, but Ahsoka pulled that off with ease as the actor gives life to the character of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Lars Mikkelsen nails the Thrawn’s voice and mannerisms again after voicing the character in the past. His portrayal conveys a sense of both menace and superiority, and the red eyes, in particular, are just a delight to watch.
When Does Grand Admiral Thrawn Appear in Ahsoka?
After disappearing at the end of Star Wars: Rebels alongside Jedi Ezra Bridger, the character has always been an important figure in the universe. Grand Admiral Thrawn appears in episode 6 of Ahsoka, as it unveils his flagship, the Chimera, a Star Destroyer that he customized and even painted.
It took six episodes for the makers to bring the character, but Grand Admiral Thrawn finally made his live-action entrance on Ahsoka, and what an entrance it was!
He is shown dramatically down a line of chanting Night Troopers led by a dude in a creepy gold mask named Captain Enoch, and we get the look at the blue-skinned, known as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
“What was first just a dream has become a frightening reality for those who may oppose us,” said the character and announced his presence with a chilly proclamation.
The debut delivered the Star Wars Rebels reunions fans have been waiting for since 2018. The fans have been waiting to get an idea about the disappearance of Ezra and Thrawn, which has long been a Star Wars plot point that many have wished to see resolved since the final episode of Rebels five years ago.
