Gotham Knights will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a four-player co-op mode called Heroic Assault on November 29, 2022. The news came from WB Games Montréal’s official Twitter handle and Gotham Knights’ FAQ page.
The news was well received in the gaming community but got taken over by a less-amusing news highlight announced just hours after the official tweet surfaced. Gotham Knights will run at 30fps on the console with no performance mode option.

Executive producer Fleur Marty took to the official Gotham Knights Discord server to confirm that due to an untethered co-op experience provided in the game, the performance/quality toggle option won’t be available. Thus the game would continue running at 30 frames per second.
“Due to the types of features we have in our game, like providing a fully untethered co-op experience in our highly detailed open world, it’s not as straightforward as lowering the resolution and getting a higher frame rate,” said Marty.
The executive producer confirmed, “For this reason, our game [Gotham Knights] does not have a performance/quality toggle option and will run at 30 FPS on consoles.”
As per the first news bit, Gotham Knights’ FAQ page reads, “Heroic Assault is an upcoming gameplay mode that is separate from the main story campaign. The standalone mode supports up to four players in online co-op and provides a dedicated arena-like environment with specific objectives to complete and enemies to defeat on each floor (30 floors total).”

The mode [Heroic Assault] holds 30 levels of objectives for up to four players to join via the game’s two-player online co-operative story mode. The four-player co-op will only be limited to Heroic Assault outside the main story campaign.
Limiting the game to a two-player online co-operative (co-op) mode despite having four characters (Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood) in the game, WB Games Montréal responded to IGN, “Focusing more on the idea of the immediate team-up of two allowed us to say, ‘OK, we can build a world that works perfectly well for either solo play or pairing off.'”
Gotham Knights will launch on October 21, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
