“Be there, will be wild!”
It all started with a rogue tweet from former President Donald Trump on December 19th, 2020.
And then, one of the most disgraceful chapters in U.S. politics was recorded on January 6th, when a legion of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.
It was one of the worst mass attacks on a federal establishment, endangering several officials, civilians, and law enforcement.
Americans could not believe the barbaric nature of brainwashed supporters–
“Trump: Incites a riot on January 6th.
Trump supporters: Beat cops with flags, break windows, spread sh*t on the Capitol walls, and try to get to the Senators.
Trump and his supporters: Cry that they’re being locked up for breaking into the U.S. Capitol.”
“J6 cowards in coordinated mass invaded our U.S. Capitol on the promise that Trump would be right there with them. Four deaths, 140 law enforcement injured, and human waste laid in their path. Remember those who protected democracy today.”
“Pam Hemphill, who received a two-month sentence in federal prison for her involvement in the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol, tells CNN’s Gary Tuchman she was “brainwashed.”.”
“Kevin McCarthy released more than 40K hours of surveillance footage from the January 6th U.S. Capitol attack to Tucker Carlson, who consistently downplayed the deadly riot Where was the Republicans transparency when they refused to release that footage to other news medias?”
Several charges were filed against more than 1000 rioters, and some are still imprisoned for the same. While they thought their supreme leader would bail them out, Trump booked it under a shade. While the right-leaning media downplayed the riots as “tourist visits.”
But now, a couple of years later, the fragments of the shameful day have resurfaced again–
What Happened Outside Ex-President Barack Obama’s Residence?
A man was spotted a few blocks away from the Obama residence. He was apprehended by Secret Service Officers when he tried to run towards the house. Upon further inspection, they found two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition inside his van. He was arrested immediately for interrogation.
The man in question is 37-year-old Taylor Taranto, also associated with the January 6th U.S. Capitol Riots. According to his wife, he is already facing charges with four misdemeanor counts because of the riots.
Ever since his involvement in the mob attacks at U.S. Capitol, the FBI has been monitoring his online activities. But last Wednesday, the FBI went on high alert for Taranto because of his Youtube Live Stream. In this video, he mentioned that he was in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on a “one way mission.” His ultimate plan was to blow up the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He had threatened to detonate explosives in his van while parked at the federal building in Gaithersburg.
On June 29th, Taranto was arrested after an hour-long manhunt.
Here are some allegations as per the prosecutors–
- His van had “hundreds of rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition, a steering wheel lock, and a machete.”
- He allegedly made threats to the Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin as he entered an elementary school close to the Maryland home of the congressman.
- He also warned/ threatened Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) that he was “Coming at you, McCarthy. Can’t stop what’s coming. Nothing can stop what’s coming.”
- As per Assistant U.S. Attorneys Allison Ethen and Colin Cloherty’s 26-page detention memo, “Taranto’s own words and actions demonstrate that he is a direct threat to multiple political figures as well as the public at large. The risk that Taranto poses if released is high, and the severity of the consequences that could result are catastrophic.”
Did Trump Post Obama’s Address?
The prosecutors have alleged that “Former President Donald Trump posted what he claimed was the address of Former President Barack Obama on the social media platform Truth Social” on June 29th.
And on the same day, Taranto was spotted outside Obama’s house.
According to the prosecutors’ memo–
- “Taranto used his own Truth Social account to re-post the address. On Telegram, Taranto then stated, ‘We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta’s and Obama’s.‘”
- “Shortly thereafter, Taranto again began live-streaming from his van on his YouTube channel. This time, Taranto was driving through the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington D.C.”
- “While walking, he made several concerning statements regarding the residences in the area, saying that he was looking for ‘entrance points,’ that he had ‘control‘ of the block and ‘had them surrounded,’ and that he was going to find a way to the ‘tunnels underneath their houses.‘
- “He also repeatedly stated that he was trying to get a ‘shot’ and wanted to get a “good angle on a shot.“
Law enforcement was unable to track Taranto for a long time since he was on the move in his van.
There is an implication that Trump’s tweet must have tipped him to the correct location to possibly attack Barrack Obama. However, these are just allegations, and nothing has been proven yet.
During his bail plea, Taranto’s lawyer, Kathryn D’Adamo Guevara, states that he is not a flight risk, “Mr. Taranto has been available and in plain sight for the last two and a half years.”
