With the animeverse full of powerful individuals, fans often find ways to compare different main characters, including Goku vs. Saitama and Luffy vs. Naruto.

Besides these, a recent comparison between Madara, the coolest villain in Naruto, and One Piece’s protagonist, Luffy, has emerged between the respective fandoms.

So, can Luffy beat Madara in a one-on-one confrontation? How strong is Madara compared to Luffy? Is there any other One Piece character who could defeat Madara?

Honestly, the Naruto anime concluded in 2007, but even though it is 2023, One Piece has yet to reach its peak, and yes, we’re considering Luffy’s Gear 5.

So, the comparison between Madara and Luffy is akin to comparing Luffy during the Skypiea arc with himself during his battle against Kaido, when he awakened his Sun God Nika’s devil fruit.

Nonetheless, for the sake of fans’ amusement, let’s see who comes out on top. Madara was a formidable villain during the Fourth Ninja War in Naruto Shippuden, awakening two Rinnegans.

Furthermore, he can project four shadows that are as strong as his original body using his ability, Limbo. On top of that, he has the highly destructive Truth Seeking Orbs and an astonishing Regenerative Ability.

With Rinnegan, he detects literally anything, but his shadows generated by Limbo are invulnerable to any physical damage. On the other hand, the Truth Seeking Orbs can be used during both offensive and defensive situations.

However, Madara’s regeneration ability is God-level because, in his battle against Team 7 and Might Guy, Madara was cut in half. Despite severe injuries, he still fought face-to-face and regenerated in the blink of an eye.

On the other hand, Luffy has recently awakened the power of the Sun God Nika, which is immune to both lighting and fire, but when facing Madara, he should be mindful of all the three trump cards we listed above.

Luffy can fight Madara on equal terms before the latter’s most powerful form, but it is skeptical if we consider the Fourth Ninja War version. While Luffy can detect the shadows using the Observation Haki and the Truth Seeking Orbs, he will be heavily disadvantaged in a fight.

He will be forced to go on the defensive the entire time, and regardless of how much damage he does to Madara, his defenses, along with his regeneration ability, will render Luffy’s abilities useless.

However, given there are far more powerful individuals, such as the Five Elders in One Piece, we still haven’t seen Luffy’s prime yet to be able to defeat Madara (even with Gear 5). So, it is debatable, but for now, Luffy cannot beat Madara, but there is a possibility in the future.

Since we’re ruling out Luffy, we can ignore Zoro, Sanji, and even other Sea Emperors, except maybe Shanks. Shanks holds many mysteries, including his relationship with the Five Elders.

So far, we’ve only seen a glimpse of one of the Five Elders, Saturn, which many fans believe is the weakest among them. Given that one was enough to halt Luffy from fighting, someone from One Piece could defeat Madara.

The strongest of the Five Elders may be able to beat Madara because there are rumors that they have existed for hundreds of years, honing their skills to the extreme.

Alternatively, Rocks D. Xebec, the once strongest pirate in the world, who faced both Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp at the same time, may also have the ability to face Madara.

Although power systems are completely different in each anime, both have their advantages, such as Haki in One Piece, while Naruto has Chakra and tailed beasts. So, depending on how Madara handles the shortcomings of Naruto, the battle is determined.

So, what are your thoughts on the matter? Do you believe Luffy can defeat Madara?
