Disney has always been a thing of fantasy for many children as well as a few adults, with it creating an unbelievable experience through Disney parks.
However, lately, many Disney lovers have heard rumors that Walt Disney World may be going to shut down as of November 2023. So, is Disney World really closing down?
The Walt Disney World is not shutting down but is refurbishing certain theme parks and rides to ensure that future visitors have a more delightful and safe experience. As of November 6, 2023, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Florida was indefinitely shut down while Blizzard Beach Water Park was opened up.
The Walt Disney World: Will It Be Closed As of November 2023?
The Walt Disney World is a go-to destination for millions of people worldwide, so if you have heard the rumor of it closing down, it might have been misinterpreted.
Since Disney World is visited by numerous people every day, it is of utmost importance that they maintain quality and take safety measures so that rides will go on smoothly in the future.
However, they can’t carry out the refurbishments while visitors are still enjoying their delightful stay, so they often close specific locations but not on a large scale.
This time, though, Disney is not only closing one entire theme park indefinitely but also several other significant attractions from Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
Two of the most popular theme parks in the world, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, rarely open simultaneously, so if one is opened, the other one is mostly shut down for a certain amount of time for refurbishment.
On November 5, Disney closed its Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, but the following day (November 6), it opened Blizzard Beach, which was closed off for a few months as we’re approaching the end of the year.
While Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is the only singular central attraction that was closed off, other locations from the major four attractions have also been closed off for various other reasons.
Here are all the closed and the soon-to-be-opened locations that you should keep in mind if you plan to visit any of the Disney Theme Parks:
- Primeval Whirl: Permanently Closed
- Splash Mountain: Permanently Closed
- Haunted Mansion: May Close Soon Enough
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure: Opening in 2024
- Harmonious: Permanently Closed
- Journey Into Imagination: Closed in October 2023
- World Celebration: Due for opening in December 2023
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid: Closed Indefinitely
Even though Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has been closed, fans of Disney World can visit Blizzard Beach, which has dozens of attractions for both young and old alike.
Attractions such as Slush Gusher, Summit Plummet, and Cross Country Creek are often recommended to those who seek a thrill with a hint of relaxation.
That being said, it is not revealed when the refurbishments for Typhoon Lagoon will be over and when it will be reopened, but there is a possibility: when Typhoon Lagoon reopens, Blizzard Beach may be closed.
Since Blizzard Beach was opened seven months after its closure in March, we can expect a similar timeframe for Typhoon Lagoon, bringing us into Spring 2024.
So, are you going to miss Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Florida? What are your thoughts on the theme park?
