Randy Orton is the childhood rockstar for 90s kids. Watching him dominate in the ring was a spectacular inspiration. Owning a Randy Orton WWE Supercard Roster was the original childhood flex.
Orton, born on 1 April 1980, holds the third most world championship record in WWE history. He was the youngest world champion at just 24.
From his first match on RAW to two decades of a legendary career, Randy has amassed a loyal following who are not yet ready to witness his retirement.
Why Is Randy Orton Not Wrestling Again?
Nothing is more exhilarating than your favorite wrestlers collaborating against your other liked wrestlers in a tag match. One such much-awaited tag championship put four heavy hitters in the same ring.
The RAW tag team champions RK bro (Randy Orton and Matt Riddle) vs. the SmackDown tag team champions The Usos (twin brothers Joshua Samuel Fatu and Jonathan Solofa Fatu) was a nail-biting experience for WWE fans.
On 22nd May 2022, the crowd reactions of boos and cheers in one minute and then pin-drop silence in the next were a testament to the brutal match between the teams. In the end, the loss of RK bros brought tears to the audience, seeing their faves defeated.
However, the defeat was not the only despair for the fans; it was also the last day they saw Randy Orton in the ring.
Randy Orton’s Back Injury Explained
Due to the tag team championship match, Randy Orton sustained several injuries all over his body. His back injuries posed a major threat to his overall health. Upon much consideration, he was advised for a back fusion surgery– a spinal fusion surgery involving rods, screws, and bone grafts to correct the spine. Surgeons usually consider this as a last resort after other treatments are ineffective.
Randy Orton’s Return With Wrestlemania
He underwent critical back surgery in November and has been recovering ever since. Amidst this, there were rumors that he would make a comeback in Wrestlemania 39. But he was nowhere close to being fit for the grueling matches. Fans were yet again anticipating The Legend Killer to dominate with his pro wrestling.
Will Randy Orton Return in 2023?
Orton’s recent Instagram post had fans commenting on his possible return while others prayed for his better health.
In a recent interview with Randy’s father, Bob Orton updated on his son’s health. As a pro wrestler himself, Bob is as hopeful for his son’s return, but he also mentions that it is entirely his choice.
“He’s training, so we’ll see what happens; I don’t know. If he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might, but again he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”
Did Randy Orton Retire?
Some reports suggest that his doctor has advised him to avoid wrestling in his condition. Even after consistent training ad recovery, spinal fusion surgery does have varying complications. The 43-year-old wrestler has enjoyed a successful career and a loyal fanbase.
His return will surely be a monumental hour in WWE history, but fans will never forget his glorious contribution to WWE, even if he decides to retire.
