Sword Art Online hits hard with a full trailer of its progressive film, Sword Art Online: The Movie – Progressive- Kuraki Yūyami no Scherzo (Scherzo of a Dark Dusk), released on the movie’s official website.
The trailer packs a full-on action-packed vibe thanks to the theme music ‘Shinzo’ as performed by Eir Aoi in the background. The movie is set to be hitting theatres all across Japan from October 22, 2022, after going through constant delays due to Covid-19.
The film, which had its advance screening canceled on August 24, was scheduled to come out on September 10 with IMAX screens. But the production kept getting pushed up until its recent trailer drop today.

Directed by Ayako Kohno under A-1 pictures, the movie packs cast and crew reprising their respective roles for the sequel. The film has Kento Toya returning to illustrate the characters along with Yasuyuki Kai taking up the charge as the action director and Yuki Kajiura composing the music. In addition to that, Kaede Hondo as Liten and Yusuke Kobayashi as Morte have joined the cast from the previous film, Sword Art Online: The Movie – Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night.
The first film was released on October 2021, becoming the highest-grossing film in its first weekend. Later in December 2021, the film premiered in 40 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The anime is adapted from the Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel by Reki Kawahara and has been developed alongside two Manga renditions and novel series in English.
