Wizards of the West Coast Employs Pinkertons, Who Are The Mysterious Agents?

It’s not every day that someone gets pursued by a super secret detective emergency, and even if they do, you’d expect them to be high-profile criminals and not a simple Youtuber.

This is why the recent Pinkerton case has puzzled everyone so much. Why would the agency send its men to investigate a YouTuber? They were employed by Wizards of Coast, the same company specializing in RPG and trading card games.

The company suspected that trading cards were dripped before their release date and took measures to defend their property. How did the cards even get leaked? Who is the main culprit behind the scenes? Read on to gain full knowledge of the incident.

Wizards Of The Coast Investigation Explained

Wizards Of The Coast Investigation Explained

It all started when YouTuber oldschoolmtg unknowingly uploaded an unboxing video of a collector booster pack of March Of The Machine: The Aftermath. It was a special pack of the Magic The Gathering game.

Things soon went awry as two Pinkerton agents arrived at the YouTuber’s doorstep. They have been described as “two heavy hitter men,” and they have allegedly scared the YouTuber’s wife to the degree that she fell apart crying first thing in the morning. The video was removed from YouTube within two days of its release.

Apparently, the cards in the unboxing video have not been released yet and are set to be launched on May 12, 2023. Wizards Of The Coast dispatched personal detectives to examine the YouTuber’s personal collection of cards and determine where he had got the unreleased pack from.

In a new video, the YouTuber explained what had happened and said that the company was very apologetic about the incident since it scared them. “They were very apologetic about making my wife cry first thing in the morning.” He also confirmed that they had verified that nothing was stolen.

In fact, the supplier of the YouTuber also didn’t know that the cards in the pack belonged to a yet unreleased series.

The YouTuber also emphasized that anyone who is in possession of the deleted video should be careful. Who knows, maybe another Pinkerton agent will drop by your nest.

The History of Pinkertons

The History of Pinkertons

Pinkertons or Pinkerton refers to a private safety and detective agency that was established around 1850 in the UK. It inherited its name from its founder, Allan Pinkerton. Currently, it is a subsidiary of Securitas AB.

At the height of its power, it used to be the largest private law enforcement organization in the world. They also used to hire women and people from minority backgrounds as spies so that they could go undetected.

At their zenith in the 1870s and 80s, they engaged in violent crackdowns against striking workers and unions. They were also used to infiltrate unions.

However, they got increasingly involved with protection services as the years passed. The company now mainly focuses on risk management, threat intelligence, and executive protection. In recent years, they have been hired by Amazon and Starbucks to detect signs of unions and to bust them.

Are the Pinkertons Good or Bad?

Are the Pinkertons Good or Bad?

Throughout their early years and in their zenith, the Pinkertons were feared by laborers and unions for the mark they left on strikes. They gained a ruthless reputation for safeguarding the interests of the capital no matter the method.

The agency has become much more diluted, but they have committed a fair number of crimes in the past. Yet, it would be wrong to call the whole organization evil as it has done as many misdeeds as any other governing section with the power invested in them.

While the Pinkertons have been reduced to investigating YouTubers in the modern day, their long list of references in literature, including Sherlock Holmes, holds testament to their power.
