A prominent Youtuber named Fousey (originally named Yousef Saleh Erakat) was arrested during a live stream this Wednesday morning after calling 911 from a hotel room in Miami.
The Twitch and Kick star, Fousey, has apparently been live streaming and gaming for 12 days now, which is considered the norm among the Youtubers as they usually engage in streaming marathon events to gain subscribers.
Yousef Erakat was born in California to Palestinian parents, and in the earlier days of his career, he had multiple YouTube channels, mainly related to Fitness. However, later, he quit YouTube entirely to pursue a different kind of fame in the form of events that naturally gathered the crowds. Despite a few ups and downs, he returned to YouTube, acquiring immense fame in the past couple of years.
During the stream on Wednesday, Fousey reportedly called the Miami Police Department after being concerned about his safety from the stalkers, who, according to reports, received multiple threats. While still on the stream, the Youtuber behaved strangely, and the viewers weren’t expecting the situation to escalate in such a way as the cops arrested him and took him into custody.
What Exactly Happened During the Live Stream?
While Fousey’s live stream has been going pretty well, with viewers encouraging him on his tenacity to stream for twelve days straight, Erakat began to act strange as he called the police and urged them to send help to save him as he’s sure that someone is stalking him.
Earlier in the day, his stream had taken an aggressive turn when he got into multiple arguments with various other creators, which further sold his doubts about his concern for safety.
However, when the officer on the line began asking him follow-up questions, that’s when Fousey mentioned that he had a gun at his head and would be killed by the stalker.
According to reports, Fousey told the other guy, “I don’t feel safe around you,” and simultaneously tried to contact 911. During the conversation with the police personnel, he also started screaming and feigning the attack in order to make the police believe that he was actually in danger.
When the police assured him to stay calm, he said, “A guy told me I’m going to die tonight, and I’m going to relax? Help, there’s a gun to my head, send the f****** cops.” Ten minutes later, the cops arrived at his apartment and handcuffed the Youtuber to take him away, which was seen by thousands of viewers on Fousey’s stream on Kick.
During his arrest, Fousey lashed out at the police as the situation quickly escalated, and as seen on the stream, here are the exact words.
“You guys are dumb as f**k! You guys are literally d**m as f**k! Ay, record this! Security! Come in here now! Yo! for my protection, come in here. He can’t come in? Y’all are f**ked. I’m suing all y’all. My life is in danger, and you arrest a Palestinian Muslim who is viral? Are y’all dumb, or you’re stupid?”
The Miami Police Department has confirmed that such an incident, matching the details of the live stream, has occurred, but they declined to give away any names of the victim in order to protect his privacy. Furthermore, the Miami PD provided additional details regarding the investigation to the Insider in an email statement.
“Miami Police received a call from a male subject who called to report alleged threats being made with weapons. Upon police arrival, contact was made with a male subject on scene at a hotel room, and after a thorough investigation surrounding the subject’s claims was conducted – officers transported the male to the hospital for a mental evaluation and documented the details.”
What are your thoughts on the entire situation? Was Fousey really threatened by the stalkers? Or was it just a ruse to gain even more fame and followers?
