The Dune: Part Two premiere in London was a futuristic fashion spectacle, with Zendaya stealing the show in Thierry Mugler’s iconic 1995 robot suit.

This vintage ensemble, initially inspired by Metropolis, was a bold choice, showcasing Zendaya’s avant-garde style. But what made it so trendy and beloved online?

Zendaya’s robot suit from Thierry Mugler’s 1995 collection stole the spotlight at the Dune: Part Two premiere, embodying Mugler’s penchant for spectacle. Constructed from chrome with plexiglass cutouts, it took six months to craft. While fans praised its artistry online, some humorously questioned its practicality, sparking playful speculation that made the topic trend.

What Is Zendaya’s Robot Suit? Why Is It Going Viral?

Created in 1995, the Manfred Thierry Mugler “Maschinenmensch” robot took over half a year to design and is composed of individual metal articulations inspired by exoskeletons.

Zendaya’s stunning robot suit, sourced from Thierry Mugler’s 1995 couture collection, made waves at the Dune: Part Two premiere.

This metallic marvel, inspired by the character Futura from Metropolis, epitomizes Mugler’s love for spectacle and avant-garde design.

Constructed from chrome and featuring plexiglass cutouts, the suit took six months to create, demonstrating Mugler’s unparalleled craftsmanship.

As fans raved about Zendaya’s fashion-forward look online, one couldn’t help but wonder about the practicality of such an outfit.

While some marveled at its artistic brilliance, others humorously questioned its functionality, sparking a lighthearted online debate.

On the Pics subreddit, user rorofish33 wrote, “Imagine getting an itch in that thing.” Another user, Jesus_Is_My_Gardener, said, “Imagine if she farted in that thing. It’s be a bubble, trapped between her skin and the vinyl, traveling up her spine.”

So, from pondering bathroom breaks to imagining unexpected consequences, Zendaya’s robot suit has captured the imagination of the internet.

If there ever is a remake or a parody of Star Wars, I want Zendaya to play C3PO pic.twitter.com/HgwLwzjJm3

However, the jokes didn’t stop there. People went one step forward and said she looked like Star Wars’ C3PO come to life. All these jokes made the dress and Zendaya go viral.

But what’s the history of this particular dress?

Zendaya’s stunning robot suit was sourced by her stylist, Law Roach. Mugler’s legacy as a visionary designer was evident in Zendaya’s red carpet moment, recalling his iconic Cirque d’Hiver show, dubbed “the Woodstock of Fashion.”

Inspired by superheroes and cabaret stars, Mugler created theatrical designs with signature sculptural silhouettes.

Although Mugler passed away in 2022, his archive continues to inspire stars like Zendaya, who set a new standard for fashion excellence. With Mugler’s influence enduring, we anticipate more iconic fashion moments to grace the red carpet.

What did you think of Zendaya’s robot suit? Do you feel it was too much or just right, considering the theme of the film?
