Simon Cowell is popular for his witty comments and critical judgment. He has advocated speaking their mind on multiple reality shows such as American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The X Factor. Then, what must have happened that forced Cowell to eat his words?
In the recent episode of America’s Got Talent season 18, Cowell was seen with his tongue tight, although his facial expression quite said it all. Cowell revealed to USA Today that he suffered from acidity that turned so severe that it burned his vocal cords. Hence, Cowell had to remain quiet for more than seven days, which was expected to help him recover faster. Right now, He is still recovering from the problem.

Simon Cowell experienced sudden discomfort while shooting for the fourth round of America’s Got Talent auditions. The discomfort soon turned into agony, and Cowell found it difficult to speak.
Cowell was immediately attended by onset doctors, who inserted a camera-like device up the singer’s nose and down his throat that reflected his burnt vocal cords. He was sent for an immediate vocal test.
The audience was shocked to see the judge with the loudest voice go quiet in the middle of the shoot. Even Cowell confirmed that it was very discomforting, and he had so much to say but was helpless.
Simon told USA Today that –
“It was torture. There was so much I wanted to say, and I literally could not talk,” Cowell says. “We tried writing things. At one point, I used this kind of iPad device where I had things I’d said before. I tried to use Sofía to translate for me, and she deliberately said the wrong things, so it was just chaos.”
“For about seven days, I had to sit there and not say anything, so all I could do was just listen to them. And it was very interesting, because they’ve all got enough confidence now that they have their own preferences,” Cowell says. “So we probably disagreed more this year, but in a healthy way. You can’t be an expert on everything when you judge this show, because of the variety of acts.”
Sofia Vergara, the co-host of Cowell on America’s Got Talent, was his translator during his recovery. While talking to People, Sofia mocked Cowell, saying who would have imagined that America’s Got Talent Season 18 would make Simon speechless?
She took advantage of the situation and deliberately mistranslated the statements. The episode in which Cowell suffered aired on 27th June and has shocked worldwide audiences.
