People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others, especially if they come with “receipts” of the damages done.
The following case exemplifies how igniting false accusations can open a can of worms for oneself.
On November 16, 2023, famous YouTuber Clay “Dream” clapped back at voice actor Nicolas Cantu after the latter called him a p*dophile. The Minecraft gamer Dream accused The Amazing World of Gumball voice actor of physical assault, racist slurs, verbal abuse, and more. Then again, the 20-year-old voice actor brought his own receipts on Dream’s grooming scandal.
What Started The Clay Dream And Nicholas Cantu Online Fued?
The 20-year-old Mexican voice actor was roped in to voice the titular character Gumball Watterson in The Amazing World of Gumball(2011). Nicolas Cantu has garnered several accolades for his roles in Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie (2017), Dora and Friends: Into the City! (2001), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Imposters.
Per his bio, Cantu also dabbles in stand-up comedy. At the same time, he has also created a YouTube persona, “Junky Janker,” mostly uploading animation and comedy videos, amassing over 400K subscribers.
On the other side of the ring, we have a mysterious masked YouTuber gamer who just recently unleashed internet memes when he revealed his face to the public.
The 24-year-old Minecraft YouTuber was severely bullied after the face-reveal and faced hoaxes and false claims about him. On November 13, 2023, Dream took to X to clear his name from the false grooming allegations, which also involved severe accusations of him being a pedophile.
Netizens were split in opinions after the series of tweets, and the issue calmed down for a day.
But it didn’t take too long to revive the so-called scandal when Cantu got involved in propagating the allegations.
Two days later, on November 15, 2023, a Dream parody account posted an image of the Minecraft Youtuber with a caption asking, “Who want me?” Clearly, this was just a fun troll account looking for some entertaining reactions to the post.
However, Mr. Nicolas, unprovoked, unmentioned, and unhinged, replied to it, “I want you dead.”
As Cardi B would say, “WHAAT WAS THE REASON?”
But the story doesn’t end here; rather, it takes a more chaotic turn…
Round 2: The parody account again posted something crass, joking about Dream’s pedophilia. Again, Cantu felt the itch to comment something on it, and that were his last words before shitstorm… He said Clay couldn’t take the joke because he is “an actual” p*dophile.
This awakened the beast inside Mr Dream, and then he spilled a gallon of tea on Cantu.
Why Did YouTuber Dream Accuse Gumball Watterson Voice Actor?
Dream came back with some severe allegations against Nicolas Cantu. He said in his exposé–
“I’m not a p*dophile, no matter how much you joke, but you are a s**tty terrible human. You physically assaulted me, said the N-word and other slurs, verbally berated an Uber driver, saying, ‘That’s why I’m a famous movie star and you’re an Uber driver,’ and they were just trying to help you not get arrested. Calling them the R slur and saying your IQ is among geniuses and making racist remarks towards them.”
Dream further revealed that Cantu was spreading misinformation about him as he stated–
“Then you apologized in Twitter DMs to me because ‘you were drunk and high.’ You should never treat anyone like that, regardless of circumstance. Crazy how the voice actor from Dora the Explorer, Gumball, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is being racist and replying to fake Dream accounts in his free time.”
Meanwhile, Dream is also accused of grooming allegations, reportedly from a minor. He defended himself, stating–
“In these screenshots, them being 18 years old is mentioned in their bio, and I also very clearly asked them for their age. I did not act inappropriately with this person, and any attempt to equate these messages to grooming is not only disgusting but is insulting to victims who actually experienced grooming and still have trauma as a result.”
Latest Update on YouTuber Dream Accuse Gumball Watterson Voice Actor?
The 20-year-old voice actor retweeted an interaction thread between Dream and a commentator.
Netizens are on either side of the ring in the petty fight between the two YouTubers, while some find it ridiculous how the allegations are thrown so nonchalantly.
