Each and every participant in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 is a seasoned warrior (I mean queen), and very little can phase them. Given that they have already gone through the Drag Race drama once, it’s only the toughest of queens facing each other.
While this means twice the theatrics, you bet you will get an extra dosage of emotional manipulation and badmouthing.
The latest melodrama in All Stars involved Heidi N Closet going head to head with all the other queens as she tried to defend herself. The result, however, was not pretty, as the drag queen decided to walk away from the competition.
It all started with the Snatch Game, a challenge that, according to RuPaul, separates the wheat from the chaff. Heidi parodied the pirate Blackbeard, a choice that raised a few eyebrows. Opposite to her was Kahanna as her drag mother, Coco Montrese.
Heidi initially had fun and carried her character well until she went too far. Kahanna was visibly distressed as her jokes fell flat, and she had difficulty playing her character. In an attempt to save the deal, Heidi tried to crack a few jokes at the expense of an already flustered Kahanna.
A particular gag hit hard when Heidi handed a treasure map to Kahanna, suggesting that she use it to find a joke. The line was received with awkward silence, and the vibe only fell flatter as time went by.
Once the game ended, it seemed like a dam of complaints finally burst free against Heidi. Kahanna confronted Heidi with, “What really sent me was you because you really were pushing me. Seeing that I was struggling and throwing the jokes back at me, giving me the map and antagonizing me, it just was not cute.”
Heidi confessed that she had no idea Kahanna felt this way and was only trying to salvage the situation. Kahanna seemed too agitated to hear it and said, “I wasn’t even hitting the jokes that Ru was giving me, so why are you digging the hole even deeper for me?”
While I would have loved to see the spat settled between Heidi and Kahanna, the other drag queens seemed impatient to chime in. Kandy Muse came straight for Heidi as she asked, “Why did I hear that you went to Jimbo and told her that I’m coming for her?” The straightforward answer she received was, “Because you did.”
To her credit, Heidi tried to handle everything one by one till everyone chimed in against her, making everything a mess. It was hard to discern fact from fiction. Heidi sought the help of Alexis to confirm the Kandy Muse matter, but the latter just couldn’t decide which side to take.
When it was finally time to go backstage and remove their makeup, Heidi dropped her shocking announcement that she was leaving the show. She urged everyone to vote her out before making the decision herself
Despite some participants’ efforts to follow her, she confirmed that she would not be going back in there. Her last words on the show clearly stated the reason: “Because this has become really ugly and hideous, and I don’t like that. So, have fun. I’m leaving now.”
Heidi took her destiny into her own hands and forfeited the $200,000 for her mental health. She admitted that no amount of money is worth her happiness, and I think we can all agree with her.
Since Heidi self-eliminated herself, RuPaul kept both the bottom queens, Kahanna and Jessica Wild. After quitting the show, Heidi has only spread positivity on her social media account, urging her followers not to spread hate on anyone.
