A casual Sunday night transcends into fun, party, drinks, and destressing from the week. No one would expect things to spiral down into a tragedy.
But the Benting family was oblivious to the events unfolding on the weekend.
Joe Benting, a 23-year-old man, was reported missing after he was last seen on Sunday, October 22, 2023, leaving a bar in Easton at around 10:30 p.m. When he did not return home that night, his mother, Laura Sheehan Benting, filed a missing report and urged people on Facebook post to help with any details.
However, on October 25, 2023, Mother Laura announced on Facebook that Joe Benting had passed away in a fatal motorbike accident.
Who Is the Missing 23-Year-Old Joe Benting?
Joe Benting was a beloved member of the Cedarville community. The 23-year-old completed his education in his hometown.
He went on to earn a degree in Bachelor of Science in Maritime Business from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
The Benting family had previously suffered an insurmountable loss when the eldest son, Matthew Benting, passed away a few years ago. And now, Joe Benting’s demise was a thunderbolt to the family, friends, and the entire community.
What Happened to Joe Benting?
Joe Benting was returning home to Cedarville at around 10:30 p.m. from a bar in Easton. But he never made it home that night, raising concerns since he would always be informed about his whereabouts.
Thereafter, Laura Sheehan Benting filed a missing report for her son the next morning. Ever since then, the entire community assembled for a search operation. Laura also took to Facebook to ask for any lead on her son’s disappearance.
The post described Benting’s outfit, which included joggers, a plaid hoodie, a white helmet with gold skulls, and the American flag face cover. He was last seen leaving the bar in Easton on his white street bike.
But, the search ended with the tragic news that Joe Benting met with an accident on the unfateful night. He was riding that night, returning home in Cedarville, when he crashed his motorcycle.
Laura Benting announced on Facebook that Joe succumbed to the gruesome injuries and passed away at the spot of the accident.
This news absolutely wrecked his friends and the community, who poured condolences and honored the beloved Benting.
