Gloria Carter, American rapper JAY-Z’s mother, wed her longtime lover Roxanne Wiltshire over the weekend in a ceremony in Tribeca, New York, on the 2nd of July. Celebrity attendees included Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyler Perry, and Robin Roberts, in addition to JAY-Z and his wife, Beyonce.
Beyonce shared a photo on Instagram of her special occasion outfit, whereas Roxanne looked equally stunning in a form-fitting gold and white sequined gown as Gloria did for the important occasion.

Who Is Roxanna Wiltshire?
Although very less is known about Roxanne and her personal life, Gloria Carter, the mother of Jay-Z, started dating Roxanne Wiltshire in 2018, a year after coming out as a lesbian. Gloria Carter’s wife, Roxanne Wiltshire, is a philanthropist.
Roxanne is also the proud co-founder and President of the Wiltshire Foundation, a philanthropic organization that promotes reading in an effort to overcome social, intellectual, environmental, health, judicial, and cultural hurdles and inequities.
The youngest Wiltshire sister, Roxanne, was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad; their friends jokingly refer to them as “the Wiltshire Four.” Roxanne has also done a Master’s in Legal Studies from The Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey.
When Did Gloria Carter Come Out as Lesbian?
During a 2017 podcast, Gloria shared how he came out to her son JayZ on her sexual orientation. She said –
“I just finally started telling him who I was. Besides your mother, this is the person that I am, you know? This is the life that I lived…My life was never horrible. It was just different.”
On the other hand, JayZ has been very supportive of Gloria’s choices all along and actually teared up at the news of his mother’s marriage.
Smile,’ a song from Jay-Z’s thirteenth studio album 4:44, is where he first discussed his mother’s sexual orientation. The lyrics went, “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian. Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian. Had to hide in the closet, so she medicated. Society shame and the pain was too much to take.”
The Shawn Carter Foundation, which Gloria Carter and her son Shawn started in 2002, is led by Gloria Carter. She is a philanthropist, just like her future spouse. Her nonprofit organization tries to give money to high school and undergraduate students who have academic potential but lack the resources to achieve their goals.
In addition to Jay-Z, Eric Carter, Andrea Carter, and Michelle Carter, Gloria Carter is a musician, an advocate for the LGTBQ+ community, and the mother of three more kids. She has been raising her children alone since the 1980s when her spouse left her.
