The ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict has generated a lot of opinions from the public, but there were also several controversial takes from people who supported the mass genocide of Gaza’s inhabitants.
For example, recently, a professor from Washington University was fired for tweeting an inappropriate comment on X. While it hasn’t been much longer since it happened, another person has become the focus of controversy.
Nozima Husainova, a twenty-five-year-old finance graduate who was working at Citibank, Manhattan, as a banker, made an antisemitic remark related to the latest attack on Gaza on her Instagram story this Wednesday. While referring to The Holocaust, which resulted in the deaths of millions of Jews, she made an unforgivable comment, resulting in Citibank firing her from the job.
Who Is Nozima Husainova, and What Was the Anti-Semitic Remark She Posted?
Nozima Husainova, as per her LinkedIn page, is a twenty-five-year-old woman who graduated with a BBA in finance from the Brooklyn College of New York City in June 2021.
Following her graduation, she landed the role as a personal banker in Citibank the same year, and the entry-level salary of these employees is estimated to be $75,000 per year.
Her role at Citibank was to foster better relations with the bank’s customers and increase sales with individual clients. Before she made her Instagram account private, Husainova had around 4500 followers.
On Wednesday, Husainova posted about the recent incident of a Baptist Hospital getting bombed in Gaza, where Israel took credit for it, claiming they did it to kill the terrorists.
However, once people discovered that casualties involved innocent civilians, Israel claimed Palestine had bombed itself. While that remained a mystery, Husainova made a controversial remark on her Instagram story.
She wrote, “No wonder why Hitler wanted to get rid of all of them,” and added a smile emoji at the end, further emphasizing that she is backing up the mass genocide that resulted in the deaths of millions of Jews.
Even though she changed her Instagram account to private, other users took a screenshot and began circulating it on various social media platforms.
Was Nozima Husainova Fired From Citibank?
Following the news of her antisemitic remark related to Adolf Hitler and World War II, it sparked quite a controversy, and eventually, Citibank fired Husainova from her position.
Initially, Citibank posted that they were taking disciplinary action against her by stating, “We strongly condemn antisemitism and other hate speech.”
Later on, the official X account of Citibank confirmed that they had fired Husainova from her position. Here’s what they wrote:
“We terminated the employment of the person who posted the revolting antisemitic comment on social media. We condemn antisemitism and all hate speech and do not tolerate it in our bank.”
Apparently, the initiative to fire Husainova from her job was influenced by several business executives refusing to employ the students who make anti-Israel/antisemitic comments.
After learning that she was terminated from her position as a banker, netizens commented on X how it was a great decision, as people often abuse free speech and spread hate unnecessarily.
Here are some notable reactions from the X users who did not hold back from criticizing Husainova for making such presumptuous remark:
So, what do you think about Husainova’s comment? Do you believe she should have apologized to everyone through social media?
