The NFL is, without a doubt, one of the most popular leagues in the United States, and fans eagerly look forward to watching the games every Sunday.
Fox Sports has been a significant player in broadcasting these games worldwide, and to celebrate its 30 years of NFL Sunday, the network released a hilarious commercial a few weeks ago.
While the commercial is ingenious, some fans are left wondering why Little Baby Kay Kay was the highlight of it. So, who is Little Baby Kay Kay in the Fox Sports NFL Commercial?
Kevin Burkhardt, the American sportscaster who is currently the lead voice for the NFL on Fox, is Little Baby Kay Kay. Fox designed team jackets for the quad casters, leaving Burkhardt with a Little Baby Kay Kay jacket, through which his co-commentators mocked him by stating he is a little baby.
Fox Sports NFL Commercial: Who Is Little Baby Kay Kay?
Not only players as a team but also sportscasters have their moments, and Fox Sports decided to display that in the form of a commercial as it celebrated its 30 years in the NFL.
The idea was to create team jackets for the sportscasters Erin Andrews, Greg Olsen, Kevin Burkhardt, and Tom Rinaldi. So, the commercial begins with the team enjoying their time behind the camera.
The advertising campaign’s main intent is to show how the sportscasters have a great dynamic together even when they are not commenting on the sports, and Kevin Burkhardt becomes the center of the joke.
The commercial begins with Greg Olsen excitedly entering the room where the rest are chilling and offering the team jackets to them. However, while everyone’s jacket names have something cool engraved, matching their personalities, Burkhardt gets an unusual one.
Erin Andrews, the female sports commentator, gets Ace, Tom Rinaldo gets Rhino, and Greg Olsen gets Greginator. However, Kevin Burkhardt receives a jacket with the name “Little Baby Kay Kay” printed on it.
When he asks why his jacket says Little Baby Kay Kay, Andrews explains that they are based on their nicknames, to which Rinaldo and Olsen agree and back her up.
Even after Burkhardt insists that it is not his nickname, Rinaldo claims that the jackets are printed, and he can’t argue about the nickname, Little Baby Kay Kay, repeating it a couple of times.
While it may seem offensive, Fox Sports intends to show that the four sportscasters have incredible chemistry even off-screen, so much so that they mock each other using nicknames.
Unfortunately, it seems like Kevin Burkhardt ended up becoming the victim as the three decided to pull a prank on him. Eventually, he leaves the room disappointingly, adding a fine touch to an already hilarious commercial.
There is no significance behind the nickname apart from slightly rhyming with his name [Kevin], which was precisely what Fox Sports intended to do.
The commercial was released on Fox Sports in October 2023, and it swiftly gained the attention of fans, who claimed that it was a good commercial and Fox should produce these more often.
Furthermore, this ad campaign differentiates them from other NFL broadcasters, making the audience feel closer to the sportscasters, who are shown to have great friendships even off the screen.
So, have you watched the commercial yet? What are your thoughts on it?
