Ever since the Egghead arc in One Piece, the mysteries that have long been baffling the fans are surfacing, with several speculations lingering in the minds of the manga readers.
With the recent reveal of the Five Elders’ powers through Saturn’s domineering entrance, fans also found a significant clue regarding Luffy’s mother, who they believe to be Ginny.
So, is Ginny Luffy’s mother? Ginny was a comrade of Ivankov and Kuma, who was among the enslaved people in the God Valley in One Piece manga. While Ginny might seem like Luffy’s mother, given the traits they share with the love for meat, our speculations lean towards Ginny being Bonney’s mother.
Who Is Ginny in One Piece?
Even though the Revolutionary Army consisted of some key characters, including Bartholomew Kuma, Emporio Ivankov, and Monkey D. Dragon, which was revealed long ago in the anime and manga, Ginny was never seen before.
It means she never was a part of the Revolutionary Army. Ginny was enslaved, just like Ivankov and Kuma, as shown during the flashbacks in Chapter 1095. However, not much information is revealed apart from the fact that she calls Ivankov a brother.
Is Ginny Luffy’s Mother? Or Is She Bonney’s Mother?
Despite Ginny sharing a close bond with Kuma and Ivankov, she never really joined the Revolutionary Army, meaning she must have led a different life—perhaps to care for someone close to her.
Furthermore, she was introduced in the manga while eating meat, just like how Bonney was introduced in the beginning, which makes fans jump to the conclusion of her being the mother of Bonney.
However, Luffy also shares a similar trait, as he loves meat more than anything. While it is a far-fetched idea, it is also possible that Ginny may have fallen in love with Dragon during the God Valley incident.
Although it was never hinted that Dragon was present at the God Valley incident, it is highly likely that Ivankov and Kuma joined Dragon after being rescued from there.
Nevertheless, Ivankov was never aware that Dragon had a wife, much less a son, who is Luffy. He only found that out during the Marineford arc when Luffy fought his way through the Marines to save his brother Ace from being executed.
So, our speculations strongly follow the likelihood of Bonney being the daughter of Ginny.
In addition, the names Ginny and Bonney sound way too similar, hinting at how they could be a mother and a daughter. Assuming Ginny is, in fact, Bonney’s mother, then she needs to be considered Kuma’s wife.
Following the God Valley incident, Ginny must have escaped to the Sorbet kingdom with Kuma, starting a family with him later. Eventually, the Celestial Dragons must have laid their eyes on their kingdom.
In order to save his family and the kingdom, Kuma might have agreed to become the invincible slave of the Celestial Dragons, but all these scenarios are likely to happen after his time in the revolutionary army.
It also aligns with Bonney losing her mother and father at a very young age. Nonetheless, nothing is clear yet, but we still stand by our opinion that Ginny might be Bonney’s mother.
So, what do you think about our inference? Do you believe that Ginny is Bonney’s mother?
