The attorneys expressed concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers, particularly during what they characterized as a highly violent period in the city’s history, and pledged to take steps to rectify the situation and secure Dial’s release.
Did the Accused Police Officer Get Bail?
In a surprising turn of events, Officer Mark Dial, who had been facing murder charges in connection with a shooting incident, was granted bail on Friday afternoon.
This decision deviated from the norm, as individuals charged with first-degree murder are typically held without bail. Nevertheless, in an exceptional ruling, bail magistrate Marilyn DeLeon and Municipal Court Judge Christian DiCicco chose to establish Dial’s bail at $500,000.
Remarkably, the police union promptly posted the necessary $50,000, which equated to 10% of the total bail amount, facilitating Dial’s release.
