Do you ever catch a multiple-evolution Pokémon and then face the most complicated question that will plague you for days? “Which evolution is best suited for it?”
The same question might be plaguing you now if you are in possession of a Poliwhirl. This cute Pokémon has plenty of uses on its own, but it has two powerful evolutions. It can either evolve into a Poliwrath or a Politoed.
Both are wonderful Pokémon s, no doubt, but which one is more likely to benefit you? Surely you don’t want to waste your hours of hard work by choosing an evolution that will not benefit you? So, without further ado, let’s dive into more details of the two.
Is Politoed Better or Poliwrath?
In Pokémon GO, Poliwrath is slightly better than Politoed as a Poliwhirl evolution. Poliwrath is a better option owing to its somewhat higher attack and defense stats, though both have the same HP.
Since Poliwrath is a water/fighting type Pokémon, it can learn powerful fighting-type attacks that are not possible in the case of Politoed.
However, Politoed is a pure water Pokémon and can use far stronger Water-type attacks than Poliwrath.
What Is the Difference Between Politoed and Poliwrath?
The first significant differences between a Politoed and a Poliwrath are their stats. Poliwrath has an attack and defense of 182 and 185, while Politoed is slightly lagging with 174 and 179, respectively.
Politoed is a pure water-type Pokémon, and Poliwrath is a water/fighting type. Poliwrath has a considerable amount of weaknesses as well as resistance, while Politoes have very few drawbacks but also very less resistance.
Poliwraths are weak to electric, fairy, flying, grass, and psychic, while Politoeds are weak to electric and grass types. Poliwraths are resistant to bugs, dark, fire, ice, rock, steel, and water types. Politoeds are vulnerable to fire, ice, steel, and water types.
Poliwraths have a more significant amount of fast attacks than Politoed, but they both have several charged attacks. Politoed can also learn the ground type attack, Earthquake, which isn’t possible for Poliwrath to learn.
How to Evolve Poliwrath and Politoed?
You can evolve your Poliwhirl Pokémon on Pokémon GO into a Poliwrath with 100 Poliwag Candy, and an additional King’s Rock will turn it into a Politoed. As King’s Rocks are rare finds, it’s harder to obtain a Politoed.
Now that you are equipped with the knowledge of how to evolve your Poliwhirl and what to evolve it into, categorize your needs and go ahead to have a new adventure.
