Fortnite is one of the most popular and influential games in history. With its unique visuals and gameplay, it’s no surprise that gamers get frustrated when servers are shut down.
So, if you’re facing server issues, endless loading screens, and error messages with Fortnite, do not worry, as we will provide everything you want to know about this scheduled downtime.
Why Isn’t Fortnite Working?
On June 9, Fortnite servers were officially down. This was so that the developers at Epic Games could roll out the v25.00 update to Chapter 4 Season 2 of the game, and go into the WILDS.
With this significant update, the island that existed in Season 2 of the game will collapse, revealing a concealed jungle with many secrets for players to discover. The new update has many features that enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Are the Servers Back Up?
The servers were shut from 2 am Eastern Time, with matchmaking services being deactivated just before.
At the time of writing on June 10, Fortnite is officially back up after roughly 6 hours of downtime. With more updates being rolled out for the game, Epic Games has become more efficient at managing these rollouts, which can run into problems if not handled properly.
If you run into server issues in the future, check out the official Twitter handle @FortniteStatus or Epic Games Public Status to know whether all Fortnite services are functional. These platforms are handy for determining if users face internet connectivity issues.
@FortniteStatus also provides information on when scheduled downtimes occur for maintenance well in advance so gamers can plan accordingly. These downtimes usually last for 2-3 hours on average and are usually deployed on timings that do not disrupt players.
If you continue to face issues with connectivity, we suggest using an ethernet cable to solve connectivity issues, as Wi-Fi can sometimes become weak.
What Can Players Expect in Fortnite Season 3?
A look at the trailer will reveal all the major highlights of the update. The island from Chapter 2 has now crumpled, unveiling a vast concealed jungle filled with ancient mysteries waiting to be discovered. Players can now climb up to treetops, hop on raptors, and slide through the new muddy terrain for increased speed and camouflage.
The update will also bring four new weapons to the game: Thermal DMR, Flapjack Rifle, and Kinetic Boomerang. The Thermal DMR is an ideal addition given the setting of the update, allowing players to hunt down foes using thermal vision.
Are There Any Issues With the New Update?
This particular update is enormous, so a few issues can pop up. However, Epic Games usually patches up most bugs quickly, with Fortnite being so popular.
Along with overhauling the entire game, the v25.00 update also fixed an issue with voice chat on Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Sometime after the update rolled out, many players on console platforms such as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox faced an issue wherein the game crashed instantly after loading into a match.
The developers then gave out a temporary fix for the issue by disabling the Burn Bright emote because it supposedly caused the game to crash. They then announced that they would provide an update soon with the emote re-enabled.
Users were also subject to lower Gliding speeds within the updated game version, which the developers promptly fixed.
With such a significant update to the game, it’s natural to have a few stability issues and bugs. Epic Games will fix these and ensure that the game becomes playable for most of the user base.
The update has revitalized the game from being somewhat unpopular towards the end of 2022, with there being a lot of hate around Fortnite.
