How many celebrities have been involved in a personal feud with each other, only for them to reconcile later? Countless. Now, two new names have been added to this longstanding celebrity tradition- Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford.
After being in a low-simmering feud since 2019, the two have publicly left behind their misunderstandings and woes to become friends again. But what led to the initial fight, and who was responsible for the reunion?
In 2019, Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford sparked rumors of a feud when they unfollowed each other on Instagram. In 2020, Billy left ABS-CBN for its rival network, TV5. But they reconciled on the November 9, 2023, episode of “It’s Showtime.” The reconciliation happened because Billy’s father and his wife, Coleen Garcia, pushed for it.
What Happened Between Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford?
In 2019, Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford sparked a debate among fans about their friendship status after they unfollowed each other on Instagram. Also, in 2020, Billy left ABS-CBN for TV5, meaning he was leaving “It’s Showtime” as well.
Initially, Vice and Billy agreed to remain friends even though they would work for different networks. Vice had said back then, “We’re both family, right? We’ll be in the same house with our neighbors. And we’ll support each other.”
In September, Billy admitted that their friendship had changed, and they hardly ever communicated. Things worsened when Bobet Vidanes left “It’s Showtime” to direct “Lunch Out Loud.”
It was the TV5 rival show and was hosted by Billy. Over the years, neither Vice nor Billy ever explained what the feud was actually about. But now, they have finally publicly reconciled.
How Did Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford Reconcile?
On the November 9, 2023, episode of “It’s Showtime,” Vice Ganda and Billy Crawford had a heart-touching reunion. They reconciled on the “Magpasikat” segment when Vice brought Billy, his wife Coleen Garcia, and their son Amari on stage.
As per the Inquirer, Vice said:
“You know, Billy and I are okay. Because the concept [of performance] is healing, I suddenly thought ‘I think we’re not just saying the word healing, we’re also making it feel good.’ Billy’s presence here today and the Madlang People knowing that we are okay, you might be inspired here to heal as well.”
The actor-comedian reiterated that he and Crawford are still best friends. He said:
“Because Billy [is] an important person in my life. At the end of the day, you’re my best friend, and I love you very much.”
But how did this sudden change of heart happen? It’s all due to dad Crawford. Billy Crawford revealed that his reconciliation with Vice was one of his father’s wishes. He said:
“Happy anniversary, first of all… to us. I have been doing many things in the last few months… I don’t know how long my dad will be in this world. But his order to me is that we make amends. My dad said that part of it was beyond my control; it was beyond Vice’s control. I think it’s all orchestrated by God.”
Vice also revealed that Coleen played a massive role in their reconciliation since she had been pushing her husband to make amends for a long time.
Also, the “Voice Generations” coach apologized to his co-hosts as well as the madlang people for all that had transpired, saying, “I’m sorry [Vice], I’m sorry madlang people, I’m sorry Kapamilya…. I just wanna say, Vice, I love you.”
Then they hugged, ending the feud that was simmering for years.
