Following internet stars like Instagrammers, Youtubers, Twitch streamers, etc., is risky. After all, they don’t have a set schedule.
They post whenever they like; sometimes, they log off without saying anything and never return. Something similar happened to Vagrant Holiday.
He hasn’t posted anything since 2021 and, as a result, has become an urban myth. Many wonder what has happened to him.
This has led to speculation about him being dead, in jail, etc. So, what’s the actual truth?
YouTuber Vagrant Holiday has never revealed his name nor shown his face in any of his videos. His last upload was in May 2021, and since then, there have been rumors that he is dead. Others think he is under witness protection or leading an everyday life and career. But there has been no official confirmation regarding anything.
What Happened to YouTuber Vagrant Holiday?
YouTuber Vagrant Holiday has 271K subscribers on his channel. He has never revealed his name or face in any of his videos. As the channel’s name suggests, he was known for making vacation videos.
The mysterious traveler adopted a unique minimalist approach to his journeys, prioritizing minimal expenditure during his travels.
While international airfare was unavoidable, he opted to minimize costs by camping in the wilderness instead of staying in hotels.
His deliberate immersion in precarious situations during his adventures set him apart, adding an element of intrigue to his experiences.
In his final video, posted in May 2021, he traveled to Mexico.
He opened the video by expressing his frustration with international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, hinting that it was during a period of stringent lockdowns and travel restrictions.
Subsequently, his channel primarily featured reposted content from previous vacations, with no new uploads for over two years at the time of this writing.
The enigmatic nature of his disappearance sparked numerous speculations and rumors within online communities. Some theorized that Vagrant Holiday had chosen to retire from making videos.
But to do what?
To settle down and raise a family in South France, possibly with a woman who had appeared in his earlier videos.
Others suggested that his deliberate ambiguity regarding his disappearance was a strategic move to maintain the air of mystery that shrouded his content.
However, more sensational rumors also circulated.
A Reddit user claimed that Vagrant Holiday might have been involved as a critical witness in the theft of an assault rifle, an incident allegedly captured in one of his videos depicting a riot.
Another, even more disturbing theory was that he may have met with a tragic fate during his vacation in Mexico, where he had once again ventured into dangerous territory.
Others say he was an investigative journalist who died in 2021.
However, there’s a more straightforward explanation than all of this made by a now-deactivated user on the Vagrant Holiday subreddit. The Redditor wrote:
“He’s also deleted and re-uploaded the Vagrant Holiday videos multiple times with no other reason except to stop the algorithm from picking them up, so he can remain a smaller channel, so he has less pressure on him to make videos. So we can assume he has a career or normal job outside these videos, and they’re just a side project for him.”
As for what he does, user _Jazzie_7077 replied with a possible answer. They wrote:
“I think in the Japan video, he said he resells vintage video games on eBay – specifically SNES games.”
On the Hacker News site, user Inu noted another possible reason behind his sudden disappearance:
“VH seems like a person with a clear moral code who has outgrown the idea of having filmed people against their will.”
So, he has stopped filming, uploading, or even reuploading his videos.
As the mystery of Vagrant Holiday’s disappearance persists, the unique allure of his minimalist and adventurous approach to travel continues to captivate and perplex many.
It leaves them wondering why he is absent from the digital world.
