Ray claims that his pet monkey, Thabo, is dead. But it looks like his viewers and followers on TikTok are giving him the side eye.
This is because many think that Ray is lying. Again. So what is the truth?
Ray of TikTok @rescuemonkeychronicles claimed his pet monkey, Thabo, died on December 10, 2023. He wants people to donate to him so that he can cover the funeral costs. However, this isn’t the first time Ray has claimed as such. Many also believe he is an animal smuggler and dealer who abuses Thabo. As such, people want proof before they accept any of his claims.
What Happened to Thabo the Monkey?
On the Fullers Monkey Bunch subreddit, there’s a curious post. u/Melissa-x-3_ made a post with the title, “Thabo & Ray situation,” saying:
“I know alot of us are watching and wondering what happen to Thabo but guys do not fall for it, this man is a known scammer and has said Thabo died before just to get money.”
The user further posted shockingly:
“He is now asking for financial help for the funeral and directing everyone to go watch updates on YouTube. Please do not fall for it he just wants paid for all the views he gets on both platforms. He is a sick piece of shit that needs to go to HELL. I do not know if he still has Thabo but I know he is lying.”
So what does it all mean?
Ray owns a monkey named Thabo who does tricks and such. Ray captures these activities and uploads them on various social media platforms. This has earned him more than 2.5 million followers on TikTok @rescuemonkeychronicles.
However, many viewers are worried about how Ray treats his pet. Reportedly, this isn’t the first time he has claimed that Thabo has passed away. Redditor replied to the above post and said:
“I saw this earlier & assumed people were talking about the LAST time he claimed Thabo ‘died.’ He really thinks he’s slick, claiming he is “confused” as well & he wants to do the ‘funeral’ right…so donatedonatedonate!”
Another user, twngrltwo, said:
“Those are the fakest videos ever. Not one tear. Not one. He lies so much and so often, that he would have to bring Thabo’s body to my front door for me to believe him. He needs to be stopped.”
On the h3h3 productions subreddit, user u/CubedWombat3 wrote a lengthy post on Ray a year ago, claiming he is a scammer who exploits animals.
They said it’s surprising that despite having a substantial following of 2.5 million on TikTok, there’s minimal discussion online about Ray, who is involved in questionable activities.
One alarming aspect revolves around his assertion that Thabo, supposedly a lab monkey rescue, had succumbed to COVID-19, as seen in this now-deleted TikTok video.
However, a subsequent TikTok post contradicts this, showing Thabo alive and well. Such wild inconsistencies raise questions about the authenticity of his claims.
Furthermore, he provides conflicting information about Thabo’s origins, suggesting both a sanctuary and obtaining the monkey from online breeders.
Oddly, he also imparts extensive knowledge about procuring monkeys from breeders, emphasizing the prevalence of scams and advising against specific shipping options.
This expertise seems at odds with someone who claims to have ethically rescued his monkey.
In a video, he mentions Thabo coming from a sanctuary. In the same video, he delves into the world of monkey breeding, adding to the overall confusion.
A disturbing revelation emerges from a 2013 news article, where he was arrested for excavating sea turtle eggs and housing a live loggerhead sea turtle in his home.
A photo accompanying the article captures him, seemingly unperturbed, while engaged in this activity. For verification purposes, an older video showcases his email address as rayfeaste@gmail.com.
Additionally, he has previously misled followers with claims of winning $2,000,000 and offering $750-$1000 giveaways through a link in his profile, ultimately leading users to fill out surveys rather than actual giveaways.
His tendency to change usernames and rebrand suggests an attempt to distance himself from his past. He transitioned from TikTok username @therealtiktokmonkey to @thaboandray and is now known as @rescuemonkeychronicles.
Recent activity on Reddit indicates his efforts to portray Thabo as a rescue monkey and gain followers for his YouTube channel. Unfortunately, this strategy proved successful, with some posts amassing significant upvotes and expressions of gratitude from misled followers.
Attempts to confront him directly on Reddit were immediately blocked, and the posts were removed. Subsequently, he deleted his entire Reddit account (u/Own-Shift9975), possibly out of fear of exposure or increasing scrutiny.
Due to all this, people are wary about believing his claims that Thabo has died. Many insist that Ray must prove that his pet monkey has indeed passed away.
What happens next remains to be seen.
Did Thabo, unfortunately, really pass away this time? Do you believe these claims about Ray? Or do you think this is just slander against Ray?
