What Happened to Gabriella Shammas?
In a devastating car crash on the Staten Island Expressway, two young lives were tragically cut short. Gabriella Shammas, a 22-year-old Brooklyn resident, and Jianna Pischetola, also 22, from Midland Beach, were involved in a fatal collision while traveling eastbound in a 2023 Chevy Corvette. Gabriella Shammas was a graduate of Fontbonne Hall Academy, a well-known school in New York City.
The tragic incident unfolded when Jianna Pischetola, the driver of the sports car, lost control of the vehicle. This loss of control led to a collision as the sports car continued to slide along the road before eventually coming to a halt, and crashing.
Unfortunately, Gabriella Shammas was thrown out of the car as a result of the crash.
Paramedics swiftly arrived at the scene, but both Gabriella Shammas and Jianna Pischetola were pronounced dead. Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck and its two passengers escaped the collision without injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. when Jianna Pischetola lost control of the sports car, colliding with a guardrail near Clove Road. The force of the impact caused the Corvette to flip over and collide with a 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck in the middle lane of the expressway.
The sports car continued to skid before coming to a rest in the high-occupancy vehicle lane, where it exploded. Tragically, Gabriella Shammas, who was a passenger in the Corvette, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision.

In the aftermath of the tragic event, the Shammas family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the funeral costs for Gabriella Shammas.
As of September 5, the initiative has exceeded its original goal of $50,000, amassing a substantial sum of over $64,000 to cover the expenses associated with her funeral.
