Why Did Chris Olave Get Arrested? What Happened to the New Orleans Saints’ Wide Receiver?
Over time, football fans witnessed many events and dramas as well. For instance, Jaylen Waddle gets hurt and stumbles down on the grounds to the Chargers Fan Lady with ferocious expressions. However, it happens very rarely when sports buffs witness the arrest of a player.
Well, that’s what happened with Chris Olave. The star player of the New Orleans Saints is facing legal trouble, casting a shadow over his career. Chris had garnered attention for his amazing performance, especially during his rookie season in 2022. In that year, he got the 11th overall pick in the NFL draft.
But it seems like 2023 was not only the year to shine but to face troubles as well. On 23 October 2023, Chris Olave’s life took a turn that had both fans and sports enthusiasts shocked. The wide receiver of the Orleans team got arrested in Kenner, Louisiana, for reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Additionally, the department notified that Chris reportedly cooperated with the police officers during the arrest. Following the incident, the Kenner Police Department released an official statement addressing the situation, saying,
“New Orleans Saints player Chris Olave was arrested tonight for Reckless Operation, city ordinance, driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Joe Yenni Boulevard.”
According to law, the person who is found guilty of reckless driving can be charged with a fine of $200 or need to spend 90 days in prison. But, it is also noteworthy that a person can be charged for any previous fraction, leading up to a fine of $500 maximum and 6 months in jail.
Chris was released on the base of a first-time offender with a fine of more than $200, much relief to his fans. However, Fans are skeptical of the arrest, when generally offenders were released on a warning.
Furthermore, Olave’s brother also made a post on his Instagram, providing the context that nothing is serious enough to worry about. He wrote,
“Bro was on the way back to the crib from CVS…aint nun serious.”
Additionally, the team, New Orleans Saints, are aware of the situation. However, there is no clue available whether he will be sustained for any action or not. But, according to Saints Wire, he was neither fined nor suspended by the league. Let’s see how this story will unfold, but the lesson is that keeping your speed limit can save $200 for sure.
