Andre 3000 is a name that resonates with every longtime rap lover since he had many classic songs from the 90s and early 2000s, including Hey Ya!, Git Up, Git Out, and Ms. Jackson.
As part of OutKast’s duo with the famous Atlanta-based rapper Big Boi, he created many masterpieces, but the rapper hasn’t been very active over the past two decades. So, why did Andre 3000 stop making music?
Andre 3000 has said many times in interviews that he lost interest in rapping, and after several years, he is not feeling motivated to do it. He also mentioned that the death of his parents made it worse, and he dislikes working alone as he always prefers to collaborate. These are the main reasons why he is not making music anymore.
Andre 3000: Why Did the Iconic Rapper Abruptly Reduce His Music Output?
Andre 3000 was one of the greatest rappers of all time, and that is evident even without the singer creating many albums following his career deviation since 2006.
He was best known for being one of the Outkast duo alongside Big Boi, and together, they released several popular albums, including ATLiens, Aquemini, and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
However, after 2006, Andre 3000 stopped collaborating with Big Boi and even stopped releasing albums altogether. Although he was active as a featured artist all these years, it was nothing compared to his phenomenal standards.
Over the past years, he has been interviewed several times, especially since his fans kept asking him to create more albums, and he almost gave the same answer every time.
He never saw rapping as his dream profession, but he admitted that he liked doing what he did all these years. In fact, he mentioned that rapping inspires him only in fleeting moments and not all the time.
Since Andre 3000 is 48 years old now, he believes that doing rap even during middle age takes away the magical feel it creates, and he doesn’t want to be rapping ten years from now.
On the other hand, he also mentioned that working as a solo artist didn’t really work out for him because he finds no motivation alone, but when he works with others, he finds a certain magic.
While he could have worked with Big Boi once again to bring back the OutKast, Andre 3000 is no longer interested in pursuing a rapping career, so it doesn’t seem like an option.
The singer also lost both of his parents, Sharon Benjamin Hodo (2013) and Lawrence Walker (2014), which certainly had a significant impact on losing his way in life, but it seems like he is finally releasing an album in 2023.
Yes, you’ve read that right. Andre 3000 is releasing an album on November 17, 2023, titled “New Blue Sun.” Unfortunately, he won’t rap or sing in the album. Instead, he plays flute.
It means the singer has decided to focus his efforts on other areas of music, showing that he still loves music deep in his soul. We’re really looking forward to what wonders he can create with his new instrument.
