Ever wondered where these Superheroes hang their capes?

If you’re a superhero, you can’t just run around from place to place without knowing what the next move is. How would you know the next move if you don’t sit down and figure that out peacefully? How do you do that peacefully and secretly without anyone knowing?

We give you – Superhero lairs!

We’ve put together a list of favorite super-bases, and trust us when we say that some of these are just off the rails.

Let’s get started!

#20 The Legion Clubhouse

#20 The Legion Clubhouse - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Metropolis
Identity: Revealed

We kick this list off with the least-known superhero lair. We’ll admit, it is hard to take a superhero lair named “Clubhouse” seriously. The Legion Clubhouse is home to The Legion of Superheroes. The Clubhouse is a rocket ship that accidentally landed in Metropolis and had no inhabitants. When the novelty of the rocket wore off, the founders of the Legion came across it and decided it would be perfect for their headquarters.

The rocket ship was a prototype of the original ship that Superman arrived on earth and was built by Jor-El. Hence, the ship had Kryptonian tech that was way ahead of earth technology, and the Legionnaires decided they would use this as the base of their operations. Especially since it was Superman, who inspired the creation of the Legion in the first place.

Characters who know the Legion Clubhouse:

  • Cosmic Boy
  • Lightening Lad
  • Saturn Girl

#19 Arrow Cave

#19 Arrow Cave - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Star City
Identity: Secret

Right off the bat, it sounds like a bat-cave knockoff, but trust us, it’s not half bad. The Arrow cave is the headquarters of the Green Arrow and his team. He admits that he stole the name from Batman, but at least he went in a different direction when decorating it.

Most people don’t know that Green Arrow also comes from a lot of money and resources. He bankrolls his fight against crime using these abundant resources in the same way that Bruce Wayne does.

Green Arrow uses this place as a base of operations to plan his missions and equip himself before heading out with his bow. There aren’t many mentions of the Arrow cave, but we know it houses the Arrow car and the Arrow boat. During the events of Injustice, Green Arrow takes Harley Quinn to his cave to protect her from Superman. Harley suggests changing the name to “The Quiver.”

We strongly support that suggestion.

Characters who know the Arrow Cave:

  • Green Arrow
  • Black Canary
  • Flash
  • Atom
  • Speedy

#18 Star Labs

#18 Star Labs - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Central City, Missouri
Identity: Revealed

Star Labs is a trusted scientific institution in the superhero community and the antithesis of LexCorp, the evil scientific organization run by Lex Luthor. Many have very close ties to these labs. Some even got their powers from here. Cyborg was born in Star Labs, where his accident occurred, and in some versions of the Flash origin story, he got his powers here.

Star Labs has always been at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and has worked closely with the Justice League as an Ally. While many Superheroes seek the help of this lab, Cyborg and Flash use it the most in their fight against crime.

Since the two have no other access to tech like Batman, Cyborg relies on his father’s resources and scientific knowledge to help him become a better hero. Flash uses Star Labs for the same purposes, and this lab played a big part in developing his cosmic treadmill.

Characters who know Star Labs:

  • Flash
  • Cyborg
  • Atom
  • Batman

#17 The Rock of Eternity

#17 The Rock of Eternity - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Fawcett City
Identity: Secret

The Rock of Eternity is the lair of the wizard, Shazam. It serves as a power source for anyone using the powers of Shazam and channels this power when the user calls on it. Besides the wizard, the hero Shazam uses the Rock of Eternity to learn more about his powers, especially in his early days. Here, the wizard imparts the wisdom of Shazam’s capabilities and helps Billy Batson become a better hero.

The Rock of Eternity was created from two rocks – one from heaven and one from hell, to hold the “Three faces of Evil .” Even the seven deadly sins are imprisoned in this very place.

So, we do not recommend you go snooping.

Characters who know the Rock of Eternity:

  • Shazam
  • Mamaragan
  • The Shazam Family
  • Black Adam

#16 Oa

#16 Oa - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Outer space
Identity: Revealed

Like a few others on this list, Oa is not technically a lair. Oa is a planet that is home to the Guardians. Oa hosts the Lamp of Willpower, the source of all Green Lantern’s powers. Without this energy source, all Lanterns would be powerless for the most part.

It is the headquarters for all Lanterns, and they must all visit Oa from time to time. Think of it as a police officer having to go to his precinct occasionally. In Oa, Green Lanterns can replenish their powers, engage in training activities with other lanterns, and even relax after patrolling the many galaxies assigned to them.

The Guardians, the highest authority on this planet, are almost as old as the Universe. Oa serves as a beacon of justice and hopes for everyone in the universe.

Characters who know Oa:

  • Green Lantern
  • The Guardians
  • Superman
  • Batman

#15 Stark Tower

#15 Stark Tower - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Midtown Manhattan
Identity: Revealed

The location of Stark Tower is no secret to anyone. Sure, there are a lot of security protocols in place that keep its inhabitants safe, but they probably could have been hidden better.

Stark Tower is company property and houses the entire staff and employees that work for Stark Industries. However, there is more to it. It is where Tony Stark tinkers. 2 floors are wholly dedicated to research and development. We all know how much Tony loves his toys.

Tony eventually began living in Stark Tower. The Tower had built-in features that would help Tony in need and hosted many of the suits he built. Stark Tower, with time, hosted the Avengers Team and was used by them as the base of operations. With cutting-edge technology already in the building, the team had access to the best of the best weapons and transportation.

Characters who know Stark Towers:

  • Iron Man
  • Pepper Potts
  • Happy Hogan
  • Spider-Man
  • Captain America
  • Avengers

#14 Krakoa

#14 Krakoa - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Middle of the Pacific Ocean
Identity: Revealed

Krakoa’s creation started from the House of M. Calling it a lair would be a grave understatement, as it is a sentient living island connected to Professor X’s mind.

Krakoa serves as a nation-state for the mutants and is essentially a paradise for the persecuted race. They are only surrounded by their own members, and no discrimination is tolerated within its walls. Speaking of walls, the reason that this nation-state was quickly accepted by the world was that Krakoa’s walls and plants could grow flowers that cure many diseases on earth. This gave the mutants a heavy bargaining advantage.

Another incredibly cool feature about this place is that it has a certain pool that allows for the mutant resurrection from any period and even has a restoration chamber that treats any wound. These combined make way for unlimited suicide missions.

Characters who know Krakoa:

  • Wolverine
  • Professor X
  • Jean Grey
  • Magneto
  • Quicksilver
  • Cable

#13 Themyscira

#13 Themyscira - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Bermuda Triangle
Identity: Secret

Themyscira, also called Paradise Island, is home to Amazonian women. The Island is not exactly a lair, but Wonder Woman has been known to hang her cape and collect her thoughts whenever the occasion calls for it. This is where Diana was trained to become the warrior she is, and this is where she got her armor and lasso from.

The Island is said to house many magical artifacts that Wonder Woman has been shown to use when the time came. The Justice League has been attacked numerous times, and the team often used Paradise Island as a hideout for some time. One of the best parts about this place is that it is invisible to the eye and can magically transport to any location or period its inhabitants want.

Themyscira is a secret to the world of man, and only a few trusted friends of Diana have been given information about it. Even fewer have visited.

Characters who know Themyscira:

  • Wonder woman
  • Batman
  • Superman
  • Wonder Girl

#12 Mount Justice

#12 Mount Justice - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Happy Harbor, Rhode Islands
Identity: Secret

Mount Justice is best known for its use by the Young Titans. In the Young Justice TV Show, the Titans use this as a base for their operations. This iconic site has also been used by many superhero teams that came before them.

The Justice Society of America used the Mount as their base, and so did the Justice League. The location of this base remains largely a secret. Just like the Watchtower and the Hall of Justice, this lair has state-of-the-art tech that allows the young heroes to monitor and keep an eye on any criminal activity that may be going on. The Mount is also fitted with a Boom Tube that allows direct access to places like the Watchtower.

Besides the standard tech enhancements, Mountain Justice also serves as a place to train the new heroes who join the team. For this, senior heroes show up and train the young ones in different disciplines. The location is fully equipped with training and recreational rooms for the team.

Characters who know the Mount Justice:

  • Robin
  • Nightwing
  • Starfire
  • Cyborg
  • Batman
  • The Justice Society

#11 Helicarrier

#11 Helicarrier - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Airborne
Identity: Revealed

The Helicarrier is an airborne vessel that acted as a base of operations for the Avengers and S.H.E.I.L.D. The Helicarrier, at first glance, looks like another ordinary War ship meant for the sea. However, SHEILD employed their best minds to create this absolute masterpiece of a superhero lair. The Helicarrier has made its appearance in the comic books but was made more famous during the events of the first Avengers movie.

The flying warship has created by the best minds on the planet, including Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Forge. It is fitted with technology that enables it to fly at incredible speeds and remain airborne without much fuel. Very Handy.

There have been many iterations of the Helicarrier, and while the movie version is the most famous, the Zombiverse Helicarrier was indeed a head-turner. It was used as the last base of operations during the infection and held on as much as possible.

Characters who know the Helicarrier:

  • Nick Fury
  • Captain America
  • Hawkeye
  • Black Widow
  • Iron Man

#10 Sanctum Sanctorum

#10 Sanctum Sanctorum - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Bleeker Street, Manhattan
Identity: Revealed

Dr. Strange held the title of Sorcerer Supreme for many years and has used one of the many Sanctums as his home. This one, in particular, is situated in New York. There are many Sanctum Santorums placed strategically across the world. They are meant to serve as the first line of protection against mystical threats to the world. These sanctums are magical places and house many of the world’s most powerful mystical artifacts.

Whenever Strange is faced with a problem he cannot handle with just his magic, he simply browses through his Sanctum to see which mystical artifact would work best in that situation. He never seems to come out empty-handed.

The Sanctum Sanctorum is located near the other heroes in New York. The site was the beginning of the Infinity War arc, both in the comics and live-action adaptations.

Characters who know the Sanctum Sanctorum:

  • Dr. Strange
  • Thor
  • Iron Man
  • Silver Surfer

#9 Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Westchester, New York
Identity: Secret

Professor X founded the Xavier Institute with the hope of educating and teaching young mutants how they could control their powers and be a part of the real world. The school is recognized by the world as a mutant school. However, it isn’t just that.

Under the put-together school is the X-men’s base of operations. The prominent members of the X-men come together here to strategize and plan their following missions. The base is predominantly designed and built by the brilliant Hank McCoy and has technology that rivals some of the other superhero teams. From high-speed jets to high-intensity training rooms to groom the younger generation of mutants. The existence of this base is kept top secret, and only the core members of the X-men know the actual security procedures to get in.

The most important part about this base is that it hosts Cerebro. A machine that enhances the Professors powers and sees into the minds of every single person on the planet.

Characters who know Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters:

  • Cyclops
  • Professor X
  • Jean Grey
  • Beast
  • Nightcrawler

#8 Titans Tower

#8 Titans Tower - Superhero Hideouts

Location: East River, Manhattan
Identity: Revealed

The Titans Tower is the home base of the Teen Titans. Like the numerous versions of the origin of the Teen Titans, there are many for the Titans Tower too. The Tower in question is the one built by Silas Stone for his son, Victor Stone, a.k.a. Cyborg. Silas feels guilt because his son had become this machine and hoped the Tower could be used to win him back.

The Titans Tower is home to the second incarnation of the Teen Titans and is fitted with the latest tech from Star Labs. It housed all the Teen Titans and was not just a simple base of operations as most of these young heroes had nowhere to go.

The Titans Tower was made famous in the animated Teen Titans show. Though it was destroyed many times, the Titans always managed to build it back and continued to use it as their base of operations.

Characters who know the Titans Towers:

  • Robin
  • Cyborg
  • Batman
  • Raven
  • Kid Flash

#7 The Baxter Building

#7 The Baxter Building - Superhero Hideouts

Location: New York
Identity: Revealed

New York seems to be overflowing with superheroes, and each appears to be rich, intelligent people with massive buildings. One such building is the Baxter Building, the home of the Fantastic 4.

Before the Fantastic 4 moved in, the building was used by Captain America and the A-Winners as their base of operations during the 2nd World War. The building had gone through much destruction over the years and continued to have many problems. Reed Richards eventually bought the place and built the top floors of the building to suit his and his team’s needs. There was state-of-the-art technology, and the team conducted all their research and experiments without leaving the building.

The Baxter Building has seen much destruction and rebuilding because it is the home to Superheroes, and it is not exactly where they were hiding. Everyone knew where to find the Fantastic 4. Not sure if they thought this through.

Characters who know the Baxter Building:

  • Mr. Fantastic
  • Invisible Woman
  • Human Torch
  • The Thing

#6 The Hall of Justice

#6 The Hall of Justice - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Washington, DC
Identity: Revealed

The Hall of Justice is one of the most iconic sites in the DC Universe. It is the first official lair for the Justice League, and the team worked out of this headquarters for a long time. They eventually moved on to the Watchtower, but this remained a particular site.

The Hall of Justice takes much inspiration from the Cincinnati Union Terminal. Like its real-life counterpart, the design seems to fit the right glove. The Hall of Justice was built by Wonder Woman and John Stewart, with the financing coming from Bruce Wayne (of course). The building first appeared in Super Friends and slowly made its way into the comics. The site is meant to be more about history, but it also has secret parts that only some can access.

The building has state-of-the-art technology and even served as the League’s base after The Watchtower was destroyed.

Characters who know the Hall of Justice:

  • Superman
  • Martian Manhunter
  • Flash
  • Black Canary
  • Green Arrow

#5 The Belfry

#5 The Belfry - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Downtown Gotham
Identity: Secret

For decades, the Bat family had been working out of the Batcave. It was initially convenient as it all started with Batman. Even when Robin eventually came along, he stayed with Bruce at Wayne Manor. As time passed, the Bat-family got bigger and bigger to the point where the Batcave started getting a little crowded. Pretty sure Alfred got tired of going up and down those stairs for all these people.

Even from a purely strategic perspective, the cave was too far off, and the drive from the cave to Gotham city took far too long. The Bat fam needed a better workplace, and Tim Drake came to the rescue. He proposed the creation of The Belfry as a base for all the Bat-family to work from, and get this, it is right in downtown Gotham City. The brilliant minds of Tim and Luke Fox have worked on this lair to make it miles ahead in terms of technological advancements.

The Belfry was initially a base under the Court of Owls until Batman beat them, and then Tim took the lead on making it the ultimate Superhero base.

Characters who know The Belfry:

  • Batman
  • Batwing
  • Batwoman
  • Robin
  • Nightwing

#4 The Batcave

#4 The Batcave - Superhero Hideouts

Location: Under Wayne Manor
Identity: Secret

The Batcave is the first lair that would come to anyone’s mind if asked. The cave has been an iconic part of the Batman character. The image of Batman sitting at his Bat-computer with bats flying around is not a far-off sight.

The Batcave is situated right underneath the Wayne Manor and was already there when Bruce was still a child. His Father and forefather used the tunnels to transport runaway slaves, transport arms for the North, and many other things that helped the world become a better place. Hence, it would only be natural that Bruce would eventually take up the site to use as a base for his operations. As Batman does, he re-decorated it to make it as close to an actual batcave as possible and, of course, named it after him.

You can see cool things everywhere, like a colossal T-Rex figure, the Batmobile, The Bat-cycle, etc. But the best part is the collection of souvenirs that Batman keeps from his fight and enemies.

Characters who know the Batcave:

  • Batman
  • Superman
  • Robin
  • Batgirl
  • Alfred
  • Nightwing

#3 Fortress of Solitude

#3 Fortress of Solitude - Superhero Hideouts

Location: High Arctic
Identity: Secret

Superman has to hang his cape somewhere, doesn’t he?

He might just have the coolest base on this list. Pun intended.

The Fortress of Solitude is familiar to most, as almost every live-action version of the hero has given us a glimpse of it. Every depiction is a little different and unique. However, the thing that remains constant through these portrayals is that this Fortress contains the remnants of his home planet – Krypton.

The whole place is brimming with Kryptonian Tech, which only responds to Kal El’s commands. Anyone who tries to enter the Fortress will likely get fried to bits by the Kryptonian robots. Besides the murder bots, The Fortress also houses the restoration chamber that brings Superman back from the dead during the “Death of Superman.”

Superman has even imprisoned a few supervillains that earth’s jails could not hold. So, it’s a home and a prison all in one. Hardly any people apart from Clark have access to this location. Mainly because the tech in the Fortress could be dangerous in the wrong hands.

Characters who know the Fortress of Solitude:

  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Wonder Woman
  • Superboy
  • Jonathan & Martha Kent

#2 Avengers Mansion

#2 Avengers Mansion - Superhero Hideouts

Upon joining the Avengers, Tony turned over the keys to the team to use as their base of operations. The Mansion was donated by Stark to the Avengers and was financed by the Maria Stark Foundation.

Like Superhero lairs, the Mansion was used as a place to plan and strategize their next moves. The building had 6 floors and was outfitted with all kinds of technology from Stark and the other bright minds on the team. It had 3 basement rooms and 3 rooms on top. The ones on top were open to the public and had rooms that could accommodate any of the Avengers who would like to stay. The ones below the ground were used as the base of operations.

The Mansion was destroyed many times but remained a historic site for new and old Avengers alike. It was eventually declared a heritage site.

  • Iron Man
  • Captain America
  • Vision
  • Falcon

The Tower’s technology allows them to properly monitor the criminal activities going on earth. It is fitted with all kinds of hardware to ensure that the leaguers are at the scene instantaneously.

This iconic Tower is made of promethium, an indestructible metal alloy. It is made from technology from all corners of space, including Krypton, Mars, Thanagar, and Terran technology. Once Orion entered the picture, the Tower was fitted with New Genesis tech.

The Watchtower’s technological advances are way ahead of anything on earth. The most important feature of this lair is that the boom tubes can transport the heroes anywhere they need to be without wasting precious time.

Furthermore, the place has a grand recreational center.
