Super Mario Bros. is one of the most successful video game franchises that covers a wide range of players, from kids to older adults, with various installments.

The latest addition to the franchise, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, is looking to be the most unique game we will ever play, especially with all the features it incorporates.

That being said, according to the game’s producers and other insiders, the game will be exceptionally difficult even for the veteran Super Mario Bros. gamers. But how difficult will it be?

Let’s explore the question of doubt in detail.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder: What Is the Game About?

Super Mario Bros. Wonder boasts a typical storyline similar to its predecessors. In the game, Mario and his friends are all invited to the Flower Kingdom by Prince Florian.

However, the King of the Koops, Bowser, used a mysterious wonder flower to merge with Prince Florian. Now, it is up to Mario and his friends to stop Bowser and save the Flower Kingdom.

While the premise is quite simple, the game isn’t, as seen in the trailer. So many unique features are introduced, such as badges that grant various abilities, as well as wonder flowers that turn the game into chaos.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder: How Difficult Is the New Game?

There is a rumor I see being reported on that Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a more difficult game than some might expect.

Apparently, Nintendo has been calling it "The next Super Mario Bros. 3."

While we can’t really know how hard Super Mario Bros. Wonder is just yet, you know it’s bad when Nintendo called it “The Next Super Mario Bros 3,” which was a remarkably hard game.

Wonder is also based on the controls and physics of Mario 3, and it has been reportedly decimating the testers. The report is revealed by Zippo, who says, “If you think this game is going to be a walk in the park, then you’re in for a rude awakening.”

Super Mario Bros. Wonder could be deliberately more difficult than recent 2D Mario entries, more akin to a game like Super Mario Bros. 3. Testers are reportedly finding the game to be pretty difficult.

He also claims that the game will be available for everyone, but Nintendo has literally ramped up difficulty to new degrees, making it hard, especially since the last few worlds seem to be highly challenging for the players.

Nonetheless, there are several newly introduced features, such as badges, which let you float in the air for a while using a parachute, stick to the walls using vines, and even become invisible to enemies.

Super Mario Bros Wonder's badge system makes me think the base game is going to be a fair amount more difficult than recent ones. If all stages are clearable without them but are made easier by using badges, that might mean they become a real challenge to clear w/o them. pic.twitter.com/twX51ffpQs

Furthermore, there are also other characters like Yoshis and Nabbit who don’t take damage no matter what, except for the falls. So, they seem to have balanced the scale with these power-ups so that the game won’t be impossible to beat.

Evidently, Super Mario Bros. Wonder received no deadline to finish, and the developers had taken their time creating the game. So, it is no wonder they introduced many exciting features in a single game.

Surely, this is going to reflect on the experience Mario fans will have upon playing Wonder, and it is not far off from the release. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on October 20, 2023, on Switch.

In any case, it should be interesting to see a challenging Mario game after a long while, given how most of the games in the series have been relatively easy and not very challenging, apart from a scant few, such as Super Mario Bros. 3.

So, what do you think about the game’s new features and difficulty? Are you excited to play it? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
