One Piece Live-Action Actors’ Salaries Revealed

Netflix’s One Piece series has broken the curse of live-action adaptations after six long years of desperate attempts, and the most surprising thing is that it is the most complicated project of all.

Thankfully, the personal involvement of the creator, Eiichiro Oda, turned the shortcomings into advantages, which resulted in the immense success it achieved but did not come without a substantial budget.

Apparently, Netflix spent approximately $17 million per episode, which is equivalent to $138 million for the entire series. So, if you’re curious about One Piece’s live-action cast and their salaries, keep reading to learn about them in detail.

It is not a mystery that One Piece live-action is adapted from the long-running and most successful manga series of all time. The live-action adaptation covered the East Blue Saga for the first season, leaving the Loguetown arc for the next one.

It covered the mini-arcs, including Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village, Baratie, and Arlong Park, which fit brilliantly into eight episodes in a way that audiences never expected.

The story follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate aspiring to become the King of Pirates by finding One Piece, which was hidden by the former Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, who was executed by the World Government.

Although he starts his journey alone, he eventually finds the perfect crew, including a pirate hunter named Zoro, who uses three swords, a beautiful burglar girl, Nami, a sniper, Usopp, and a cook with principles, Sanji and sets out on a grand journey to fulfill their dream.

The strongest suit of One Piece is arguably its cast, and every actor brought the character to life with their dedicated acting efforts and hard work. So, even though their salaries are immensely high, they deserve it.

Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy

Salary: $320,000 per episode

Even Eiichiro Oda agreed that he had found the real-life Luffy in Inaki Godoy. Given that he is the main protagonist and has the most screen time of all, he certainly gets paid more than the other cast.

Inaki Godoy is reportedly paid $320,000 per episode, which makes his earnings for the first season of the live-action series about 2.5 million dollars.

Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro

Salary: $220,000 per episode

Even though Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece, Zoro, the right-hand man of the Straw Hats Captain, has proved time and again that he’s as relevant in the anime.

So, naturally, the actor portraying this legendary character would earn the most salary after the leading actor. Mackenyu earns $220,000 per episode, which amounts to 1.7 million dollars for eight episodes.

Emily Rudd as Nami

Salary: $200,000 per episode

Introduced as a selfish thief who eventually betrayed Luffy at Baratie, Nami is a genuinely well-written character, which is later revealed in the Arlong Park episode.

The actress portraying Nami, the navigator of Straw Hats, Emily Rudd, earns $200,000 per episode, making her overall salary 1.6 million dollars.

Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp

Salary: $150,000 per episode

Jacob Romero embodied the character of Usopp perfectly, making him the ideal choice for the role. He earned $150,000 per episode, and given he’s only been present in six episodes, his overall salary in the live-action series is about $900,000.

Taz Skylar as Sanji

Salary: $150,000 per episode

Taz Skylar, playing Sanji in One Piece live-action, is introduced in the Baratie episode as a talented cook who later joins the Straw Hats on their journey. His salary per episode is $150,000, and he earned a total sum of $600,000 for his appearances in four episodes.

Peter Gadiot as Shanks

— Enzo|🇵🇭 (@lorenzo_milla) September 11, 2023

Salary: $120,000 per episode

Shanks doesn’t have much screen time to begin with, even in the anime, which has over 1070 episodes. Nonetheless, he’s a crucial part of One Piece, and he earned $120,000 per episode and appeared in three episodes, placing his total earnings at $360,000.

Apart from the main cast, not many salaries have been revealed except for Morgan Davis’ Koby ($90,000), Paulino’s Alvida ($75,000), and Aidan Scott’s Helmeppo ($70,000).
