After much delays, Netflix has finally announced the release of the manga ‘One Piece’ soon on its platform. The initial announcement of the making of the film came in 2020 but got further delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But with its trailer release now, the impressive VFX and larger-than-life cinematography of the series have managed successfully to captivate anime fans and others who are new to the plot of the manga.

Is One Piece Live-Action a Movie or Series?
For all those wondering whether the popular manga will be a movie or a series, let us clear the air of confusion and confirm that Netflix’s live-action One Piece is a series. It’s rather obvious that the longest-running manga had to be summarised into a series to give away viewers most of the riveting storyline of the manga.
Although the animated version is available to stream on Netflix, divided into 10 seasons that account for at least 325 episodes, the live-action series of the same is said to have around 8 to 10 episodes. The live-action version of the manga series is said to revolve around the ‘East Blue Saga,’ which is one of the first six arcs of the manga.
According to the trailer that surfaced on the internet, the Netflix series casts Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy as the main protagonist “Straw Hat” fluffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibbs as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji and others in supporting roles.
When Is One Piece Live-Action Releasing?
After many talks, the much-awaited Netflix adaption trailer is out in public, and one can surely bet that the one-minute-and-a-half-long trailer looks promising. With that, it was officially announced that the much-anticipated series is all set to hit the streaming giant on August 31st this year.

Since fans got the first glimpse of the series, it has received mixed reactions from viewers across various social networking platforms. While some felt that their decade-long wait had finally come to an end with an adaptation of the manga, other fans of the original manga argued that the makers would have most likely failed to capture all aspects of the manga efficiently.
Some stated concern over the time constraint that the 8-episode series would face, adding that it most likely will cause a hindrance to the central plot of the comic.
