Kate Middleton and the British Royal family have been battling troubling rumors for a long time about various issues and their treatment of Harry and Meghan.
Amid this came the surprising news that Kate Middleton had undergone surprising surgery. So, how is she doing now? And what surgery did she go through?
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has been recuperating from major abdominal surgery at The London Clinic since January 17, 2024. She’ll stay in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before continuing her recovery at home in Adelaide Cottage, Windsor. No public duties are anticipated until after Easter. Although the nature of her condition is undisclosed, it’s confirmed as noncancerous, with an estimated two to three months for recovery.
Explained: How Is Kate Middleton Doing Now?
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is currently recovering following a significant abdominal surgery.
In the words of a source close to the royal household (via People magazine):
“It does sound serious with the length of time [she’s taking]. But she is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back.”
The surgery occurred on January 17, 2024, at The London Clinic (private). According to Kensington Palace, Princess Kate is expected to remain hospitalized for 10 to 14 days before continuing her recovery at home.
It’s unlikely she will return to public duties until after Easter.
Although the palace hasn’t disclosed the precise nature of her condition, they’ve made it clear that it’s noncancerous.
A former patient who had abdominal surgery at the London Clinic had reassuring words: “The physical therapists are amazing, helping you recover and get back on your feet.”
Recovering from abdominal surgery isn’t a walk in the park. It requires patience and resilience. As one insider who went through a similar experience shared,
“After abdominal surgery, you need a lot of patience, and it’s a bit scary at first.”
Once Princess Kate returns home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, she’ll have the much-needed space and privacy for her healing journey.
Besides, she has her pillar of strength in her husband, Prince William, and her close-knit family. Prince William is expected to postpone some of his engagements to be by his wife’s side and support their family.
He’s known for being hands-on with their children, ensuring a proper upbringing filled with love.
In contrast to the past, when royal duties were largely delegated, Prince William takes a hands-on approach.
A close family friend revealed:
“He doesn’t want any mistakes made with the next generation. He wants to give them a proper upbringing and lots of love. That is foremost in his mind.”
It’s worth noting that health concerns have touched two senior members of Britain’s royal family recently. Apart from Princess Kate’s surgery, King Charles III is set to receive treatment for an enlarged prostate.
While Princess Kate’s recovery is expected to span two to three months, King Charles’s treatment is anticipated to be swifter. Buckingham Palace described it as a “corrective procedure” for a common, benign condition.
Princess Kate’s last public appearance was during Christmas when she was seen with Prince William and their three children on their annual walk to church.
As Princess Kate focuses on her recovery, Prince William continues to make public appearances.
He recently joined friends Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield at Headlingley Stadium in Leeds to support their efforts in raising funds for Motor Neurone Disease research.
Should the royal family have informed the public about what Kate Middleton was suffering from? Or did they do the right thing by keeping her illness private?
