The former quarterback in the NFL and for the University of Arkansas, Ryan Mallett, was enunciated dead at a hospital following what appears to have been a drowning incident on the coast of Florida.
Mallett was rushed into a local hospital from Destin Beach, Florida, where the doctors pronounced him dead. The player’s death was later confirmed by the White Hall School District, where Mallett was working as a High School football coach.
As per the Okaloosa County Sheriff, they were called at 2 p.m. ET about a drowning incident in Destin, Florida. It was reported that a group of people were struggling to return to the shore. Later, when they were returned to the coast, Mallett wasn’t in his senses. When he was taken to the emergency room, he was declared dead.
What Exactly Went Down at the Beach?
On Tuesday afternoon, Mallett and around eight to ten other people spent their time at Destin Beach. Around 2 p.m., a whirlpool was formed due to the heavy current. People who were playing in the water were swept away immediately.
Some individuals, including Mallett and a few others, couldn’t reach the sandbar. Lifeguards hurried to save the people but could only save one. They brought Mallett back to the shore, but he wasn’t breathing then.

Post Mallett’s freshman season, the player began his career at Michigan but was later transferred to Arkansas. By 2009, his claim to fame was with the Razorbacks, where he scored 30 touchdowns and rushed for 3,624 yards.
The following year, Mallett gained even more popularity. His 3,869 yards and 32 touchdowns led to a 10-3 record for Arkansas. His performance earned him second-team All-SEC honors for the second straight season.
The player, however, departed too soon. His glorious career is an inspiration for many. The news of Mallett’s passing has caused great sadness among people.
